Default What is whith all the DSM converts?

Why have they swarmed our humble turbo comunity with their bigger than 2 L engine experience FWD/AWD suspension techniques and factory tune 300+ cc injector cars with built in Intercoolers and map sensors etc. It is as if they expect this to be as easy as slapping a bigger turbo FMIC/safc on a talon and run 12's/11's. I agree they hae alot to offer on some of there tunning and turbo stuff but not alot as far as applying it to a miata goes esp when staying with the stock ecu on smaller motors or ecus without the resolution to run 800+ cc injectors. What do you guys think of the DSM'ers flooding the miata market good or bad?

I am one of them. I agree, sometimes I totally forget about the .4L difference and other things: the DSM from the factory has a really good ECU with knock sensor, 450cc/min injectors, an over-engineered fuel system. There's a learning curve for me. Don't ban us. This forum is absolute gold, I won't be able to turbo my car without it.

And don't confuse all DSM guys as being the same, 90% of them are tards who only got DSMs when they got cheap and 18-year-olds could afford them on their Best Buy/KFC wages.

Darwin was on to something. The whole evolution thing can be applied to our little turbo world here.
Survival of the fittest is a true test... and Philip is Mother Nature.
You must learn to adapt to new surroundings, DSM vs. Miata. If you want to have fun and make little horsepower babies... you gotta know how the locals like it! Don't forget to cup the *****.

If you invade with some fancy new theories and technology that work or is at least sound on principle, the locals who adapt will perform better and reward you... but if it's some non-applicable disease ridden bullshit that clearly wasn't reserched, the locals will probably ban you before we break out in sores and scabs.

I'm always interested to see if anyone can come up with a build plan better or even significantly different than the "norm" around here that has any distinct advantage. T25 or T3 w/Begi Manifold and DP, eBay IC, MegaSquirt (or Bipes/AFPR/fuelpump), injectors, a decent exhaust, and the assorted piping, fittings, and lines... how much easier or "better" could 200+whp be? The hardest thing involved in turbo-ing a Miata is tapping the pan.

This was my desire before I bought my car and researched it much. Now it's like, why reinvent the wheel? I'm following a pretty proven path right now thanks to these forums. I have some different ideas about certain things- but they're trivial in the grand scheme of what I've learned from people here.

With exception to JW, the other DSM converts that have come over here are obnoxious twits. I wanted to click ban them but didn't because I don't want to ban JW. **** the rest of them. Especially that canadian **** head who calls himself "turbo expert" in his avatar.

You guys need to remember inovators like https://www.miataturbo.net/forums/member.php?u=121 who ran 250 or better whp on stock ecu etc. https://www.miataturbo.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1026 Or markp with his infenate testing of varius setups and general briliance. etc. Hell adambradley for waking up alot of us on the MS craze or people like cccpull, WOT, boostinsteve or me that have realy advocated the WI craze others helped to. But all in all the small differences and inovations we find help everyone. Becouse we as enthusiasts are one big wrench turning family. And of course people like phillip, lola, braineack and olderguy etc represent the original movement that brought us together in a way. i dunno maybe i am just reading to much into the forum. I for one am depressed unless i can at least read it daily to see how everyone is doing.

This forum is gold. I've learned so much from his place. As long as they keep the bullshit antics in the BS forum, I'm fine with them.

Look under the hood of your Miata. Half the **** has Mitsu stamped on it. Coil packs, igniter, IAC, and half the other ****. DSMs is a big DIY community.

It's a lot easier to find an older than '94 Miata in good condition that it is an unmolested DSM.

Why ban DSMers? They are about as close as it comes to the miata community. Everything that is documented as DIY here pretty much has been done in the DSM community. I remember about 3 years ago when they were doing DIY Water injection/intercooler spraying using like components from some marine store online. It was impressive. The people that contribute to DSMtuners.com (Shepard, etc) build proven products. Now, seeing as how a good portion of the people on this board are ex-dsmers (UofAcats, Mach929, myself), is it beneficial to ban us or is someone just generalizing?

Whatever dude. Go blow up your 6" rear end racing the ferrari.

Exactly as newbsauce said above, everything here on MT.net has been done years and years ago in the DSM world. They are the kings of going fast for cheap period. The only thing that never really took off is megasquirt, which I should have in my car sometime soon.

I might. I might not.
Either way, you won't be here to see it.
I'll be sure to post results in the BS section.
