I would say fucking off and doing nothing, but I do that all year already, so nothing is really different. I guess maybe free food and gifts and a little bit of the family.

edit: Drinking yourself into oblivion with all the spicey single-vineyard Old-Vine Zin from Heldsburg, CA that you can't drink any other time of year because you need an excuse to open those special bottles. I also enjoy rolling in the floor and cooking a huge, single serving meal for myself because my family is crazy and I can't stomach dealing with 3-factions who don't talk to each other and trap me in the middle of their horse-shit games and 2-factions ask me for money because they think that I'm rich because they're lazy, and all my friends get to show everyone how much they love their spouses and girlfriends because they have low standards and put up with horse-shit so their girlfriends can withhold sex and then they can call me up once every 3-weeks to pretend they're not dead and want me to get them drunk up in tha club and holler at bitches so they can cheat on their girlfriends and I can then watch their relationships unravel...which I know a lot about considering my mother and father are married a total of 13-times when you combine the two-idiiots.

So yes, holing-up in an apartment with Tivo'd endurance races from the summer with a 98-point old-vine zin and a badass holiday meal for myself is the reason I love the holidays.

I like that it's that much closer to warmer weather. I f'in hate the cold.

It's the one time of the year I can get a Miata part in the mail and not have to beat my wife home to check it, unbox it, shred shipping info, break down the box, and hide the new shiny part amongst a pile of crap in the garage until I can install it.

That and eggnog.

That's why I live in Houston. I can deal with 100* days and 80% humidity to not have to deal with the cold. The first time I saw snow that actually stuck to the ground was when I was 21. Friday we were able to make life size snowmen in my front yard............not happy.

I am constantly available to customers, since my work phone is forwarded to my cell when I leave, so that will be nice for that to tone down. This christmas I will be painting the floors in my garage addition and installing a natural gas heater, so I am looking forward to that as well.

Booze. And half-days at work while everyone else is blowing their leave back in the states while planning on using mine the next month when everyone else is busting their asses to catch up at work... :giggle:

I love the food and seeing my family and friends. It's really the only time I fly to CT to see them.

Well - it's summer here - today is 35 deg C.

nothing about holidays makes me happy. in fact, i find holidays extremely depressing... here is break down:

1. family time - havent seen my mom in over 9 years + brings up all the bad memories about my step dad who left me alone in US without money, place to live, or a job when i was 18
2. time off work - means i dont make any money for over half a month
3. staying home - and spend time with my g/f who is constantly bitching about every move i make
4. eating and drinking a lot - i barely eat and i drink a lot as it is

^ I hate to say me too, but... me too.

1: I have this annoying disease that prevents me from eating anything with sugar. So holiday food is... depressing.
2: I rarely take time off work for holidays. I'd rather do it when the weather is nice.
3: I hate shopping.
4: can't drink. see #1.
5: I hate crowds.

at least I get along well with my family.

There's plenty of drinks with 0 sugar

alcohol and carbonation. can't handle either.

Not being in the dessert getting shot at, dodging IED's, or having SCUD missles coming my way. This is my 5th Chistmas since I retired and I love it.
