who can get me a deal on a flat screen?

I want a 50" plasma but I hate paying retail prices. I dont want to do anything until after March 1st so I'm missing out on a few good president's day deals, anyone got a hook-up?

neogenesis2004 02-19-2007 03:10 PM

Braineack 02-19-2007 03:11 PM

I can help you out; I'm a low voltage contractor, which means that I design media rooms, automation systems, lighting control systems, a/v distribution systems, and integrate related items... Actually there is a good deal available on an LG 50 right now. Really needs to take it to PM or better phone conversation though

Several of my distributors will allow drop shipping, so that's not an issue...

Braineack 02-19-2007 03:24 PM

I thought it was you, Ben, who mentioned that, that's why i posted. I'll PM.

y8s 02-19-2007 04:04 PM

hp's 50" was 1700 a month ago. where were you?

i like the fujitsu (not made anymore) 50" best but I'd "settle" for the panasonic.

Braineack 02-19-2007 04:07 PM

I close March 1st so I dont want to buy anything untill after it's set in stone. I'm acutally looking at the Panasonic TH-50PX60U, it's really a matter of I need to mount this sucker on the wall, cuase it's the only place a tv will go, I'm happy with 720p (I have a 32" CRT widescreen), and damned if I don't just want a big ass sucker to impress all my friends, and I'm cheap, I have other junk to buy for the new palce as well, don't need to put all my eggs in one basket.

neogenesis2004 02-19-2007 04:09 PM

I wouldn't quite classify forking out $1700 on a tv as "cheap"

Braineack 02-19-2007 04:13 PM

i could easily find one for $3000+

neogenesis2004 02-19-2007 04:14 PM

Now you are talkin! They have a 70" widescreen plasma in our breakroom at bby because they couldn't sell it and are too stingy to mark it down to sell it.

for a 50" plasma? it's way cheap. everything else is 3500 and WAY up.

neogenesis2004 02-19-2007 04:16 PM

for you, MUAHAHAHA

Braineack 02-19-2007 04:17 PM

I don't think I've ever paid retail for anything. I'm getting this thing one way or the other, but if I can afford a 50" over a 42" then yeah I'm doing it.

There are actually amazingly good models from LG, Panasonic, and Pioneer that would come in at $2000-2500. 50s have severly come down in price (map and list). They have not dropped as severely in dealer cost. Margin on the cheap consumer shit you see at bestbuy/circuit city is often only 10%.

Hmm, the LG 71"? It was retail $75k when it hit the market. Didn't think LG would distribute it through a bestbuy, and can't see a tight ass corporation like bestbuy give its employees such an expensive break room tv. You sure it's not a 60"?

FWIW, that same tv which came out at $75k is now at $15k or thereabouts :gay:

neogenesis2004 02-19-2007 04:55 PM

maybe its a 60", its definately bigger than any tv ive ever seen for sale anywhere. It might be a 65". When it gets that big it starts getting hard to tell the difference in a few inches. Also things given to employees are at the GM's discretion, not corporate. If they marked it down and sold it then the GM would take a huge loss on the daily numbers, if we keep it then it is still in the inventory and no money has been lost. That just one of the ways they try to look good to the corp office.

We had a ginormous TV back when I used to work at best buy lol...full surround sound...x-box...;)...talk about some sweet lunch breaks.

neogenesis2004 02-19-2007 05:07 PM

hell ya bro! we never had videogames but we do have direct tv hd with all the channels. Watching sports on those tvs in hd is amazing!

miatamania 02-19-2007 05:10 PM

lol, that is true...we used to play halo w/ 2 12s" behind the sofa...:D
