Who scuba's here? Divers chime in!

Both Curly and I are PADI divers. Curious who else around here enjoys scuba.
To start things off... I'd advanced open water and have about 26 dives in. Just warm water vacation stuff over the last several years. Carribean, carribean side of mexico, honduras, belize, thailand. Just got back from Cabo yesterday. Took a trip out to Cabo Pulmo, a large and well established marine preserve about 2 hours from Cabo, an hour from where we stayed in San Jose del Cabo. Had been told by a dive shop here in Portland it is likely the best diving on the North American pacific coast. From the two dives I took I don't doubt it. Phenominal. Wish I'd gone there a second day instead if diving in Cabo earlier in the week. If you are going to Cabo, skip diving Cabo, take the trip up to Cabo Pulmo. Well worth the effort! Couple of pics my dive buddy took on this trip... Attachment 17314 Attachment 17315 Attachment 17316 Attachment 17317 Attachment 17318 |
250+ dives here.
Philippines, Thailand, Red Sea, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, Tobago, Grenada, SoCal. Philippines far and away the best. I hear some of the few places in the world that are better include Palau, Galapagos, Papua New Guinea. But those cost 2x~4x the Philippines does. Diving with dolphins in the Red Sea was damn cool though. But here was my most unforgettable dive of all, in the Philippines: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/phi...ive-death.html |
Dayammmnnnnn. Not fun. Good and instructional read though.

Im pretty much god of scuba diving

Advanced open water and EA Nitrox
Got all of my certifications in the red sea, off the tip of the Sinai Penninsula, Egypt (While on military deployment :D ) I'm spoiled by the #2 dive spot in the world...I have no interest in diving around home now!!!! |
I popped my eardrum snorkeling in 8 feet of water last week. I'm sure scuba + me = fail. I'd love to get into it but seems damn expensive.

It's been a LONG time but I have my PADI open water... last time I went was in '00 off one of the keys. Don't want to spoil that memory by diving into a murky pond around here...
|
Another diver here. I'm signed up for a Nitrox class this weekend... Want to move up to wreck penetration diving next/deco/tech diving. Roll with a Zeagle ranger. Went diving this past weekend, in my swimming pool to find a leak. :)

Popped as in ruptured, with a hole in it? |
ACUC Certified. A few dives in Canada where it's cold and one in St Martin where it's not.
I used to be the production manager for a military rebreather manufacturing company. We made some cool shite. |

It's definitely hard to jump into 40-some degree water and 3 ft vis when you've dove in nice pretty warm crystal clear tropical stuff.
All I've been doing is warm water vacation diving. There's good cold water diving here in the NW supposedly, but I'm not really thrilled by the thought of dry suit diving. Most of what I've done is in a 2-3 mil shorty (and often didn't need that) with 50-100' visibility. |
