Who wins? Supra vs. Miata
Just speculating and figured I'd start a discussion w/ you guys on it.
My friend just left the dyno in his '87 Supra turbo. It put down 313hp and 352tq. on 18psi. No idea on weight but everyone knows those things are heavy as hell, somewhere in the ballpark of 3,500 lbs. Assuming my miata gets done in the near future and is putting down 200ish, who will win? |
Only one way to find out... be sure to show us the timeslips when you race.
|
Those things are heavy, but with that much power he'll proabably catch you at the top end.
|
The one who bangs the hotter gf/wife at the end of the day wins.
|
excellent bandwidth usage.

I win. :giggle: I think those horsepower numbers and weight differences put us both in the mid 13's. Sucks he went to the dyno before my car was done, he played w/ fuel a bit on his 2nd and 3rd runs and found another 40hp and 20tq by pulling 16psi of fuel out. |

Lets stay on topic here. No g/f pics for you. (unless I ask her and she's willing)
|
Just run 'em.

God I hate MK III supras even more than I hate MK IVs....
Kick his ass, C-Bass! |
mk iv is fun but so fucking heavy! drove one for a day - kind of feels like my 350z but i like 350z a bit better (better response)
|
On the track it will come down to your 60ft time and how your torque curves are
|
I haven't seen his dyno sheet but his tq number is a wildcard. It shouldn't be making that much. Guys w/ the same turbo he has are putting down the opposite of him. Apparently somewhere near 350hp and 300tq... his for some reason did it backwards.
IDK if Miatas have wheelhop problems but his car can't launch worth a shit! |
Speculating before your car is even put together is pointless, race him and then post.
|
Sounds like whoever has more traction and is least concerned about the breaking of differentials will have the advantage.

Curb weight 1537 kg (3389 lb) (manual) Toyota Supra - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Curb weight 940 kg (2,100 lb) Mazda MX-5 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 352tq vs 190tq (being optimistic here) 11.1:1 lbs/tq - Miata 9.6:1 lbs/tq - Supra Looks like the Supra will pull you. |
But there's no way of knowing if that curb weight for the Supra is NA or turbo... it's just for manual.
Oh well... it'll still be fun. :) |
As promised... we're in the foreground.

who will win what? everyone is assuming 1/4 mile?
also in my eyes power:weight ratio only applies to a car overall. for example my experience shows, a 400hp 4000lb car trounces a 200hp 2000lb car on the highway |
