Whatever. I'm no fucking law humper. I just hate when people bitch about getting tickets "from d-bag cops" for shit that they totally deserve. You wouldn't whine that you lost your hand from putting it under a running lawnmower. As I stated, I hate people whining when they get punished for something they did wrong. It's exactly what is fucking wrong with our pussy society today.

You know how you don't end up being a party to street racing? You don't fucking go. The OP is full of shit and got busted and cited for exactly what he was doing. Sorry, as a import enthusiast, I realize I'm supposed to hate the law no matter the situation, but the driver is 99% of the time in the wrong when cited.

+1

I've been driving for 20+ years and have gotten 2 actual speeding tickets. One when I was 17 and the other when I was about 28. I think I've had 2 photo radar tickets in that time. Pick the correct time and place and it won't be an issue.

Splitime 07-09-2010 11:09 AM

Sounds like the OP was breaking the law... and got what he deserved.

I dislike people using lawyers to break the law.

"If you can't do the time... don't do the crime" :P :P

Squeaky clean record. Didn't need a lawyer! ahaha Why did the judge find me not guilty and apologize to me if I was in the wrong? :jerkit:

I go to the track twice a week to spectate.

I read the thread. It says here the OP was acquitted, that the officer lied in court and the case was dismissed. Did I miss something?

I wonder why perjury or at least contempt of court wasn't charged against the officer? Double standard.

I have a friend who has been a cop for years who freely admits to me that many of his co-workers are power-tripping douchebags. There are many he counts on that are good guys too. But quite a few don't know the letter of the law that they cite and they often make mistakes that attorneys can easily pick apart in court. Always get an attorney.

Down here in sunny Florida, reckless driving is a substantial charge involving several points and that also involves a huge insurance rate increase that remains for many years.

Thankfully in my local area the officers have many more important things to worry about than running "traffic." Most cops here know that spending their time chasing speeders is beneath them and there are more important things to be concerned with.

chris101 07-09-2010 12:02 PM

but are we ever going to hear the details of what happened?

From what I can gleem, the OP happened to be 'watching' an illegal street race. If the OP wasn't the one doing the racing, and wasn't the one setting it up, and was not involved in any other way other than caught watching, I fail to see why or how this case should have turned out any differently.

I would hate to see people randomly starting to get 'tickets' for being at the wrong place at the wrong time!

And why would a 'spectator' be given a moving violation? How does that even make sense? A 'spectator' can be a child who doesn't even have a driver's license for instance.

This reminds me of a case my dad had dismissed once. My dad was on a bicycle and got a 'moving violation' for not obeying a stop sign (rules of the road) when he was on the sidewalk! Now first of all, a person is not required to have a driver's license to operate a bicycle (non-motorized cycle). Second of all, since when does being on the sidewalk mean you must obey 'rules of the road'? Hello?!?

He said, "sorry your honor, i must be confused." She said something like think before you speak in my courtroom.

^ not to mention 'jumping-to-conclusions' without even knowing the facts!

How do you know the OP wasn't just 'at the wrong place at wrong time' and never purposely went to 'watch' an illegal street race?

I've watched drug deals happen when I was a kid and I didn't dare say a word (I valued my life even at a young age) I didn't plan on being near the deals, just happened I was by them because of where I was walking the dog or whatever (did not participate, did not buy, etc.)

People who just make assumptions without all the facts are no better than the 'ball busting' power trip cops IMHO

Back in 2003, I was accused of street racing on a Sunday night when I was on my way to lowes and then the drug store for cough drops. A buddy pulled up next to me, revved his v6, and I did the same. About a mile down the road, we see an officer flying up. We pulled into a lot and he said he HEARD us racing. Had we been racing, I would have been 3 blocks ahead of the little v6 with a cutout.

So no, sometimes its just an officer trying to be a dick, or a city short on revenue....
