Default ITT: Mazda 2 opinions.

I've been on the search for a daily for a while now, and just got back from test driving a Mazda 2. I have to say I'm impressed with how much fun it is to drive. Took it around a couple on ramps and although its obviously no Miata, I'd say it would be really fun with some sticky tires. Its a ------- dog on the freeway though. To be expected I guess, but thats why I have a turbo Miata.

I found exactly what I want (manual, green, premium sound system) for 18k out the door. Anyone here actually have a Mazda 2, or thinking of buying one? Opinions anyone?

Basically my goal was to get something under 7-8k, but a new Mazda 2 sounds really tempting right now, and obviously having a new car makes life a little easier, with trying to find a good used deal, making sure nothings wrong with it, maintenance/broken ---- that used cars have etc etc.

tl;dr yay or nay mazda 2?

I'm not into it. 2 weeks ago I bought my wife a Mazda 3 s hatch...it's a 2009 touring model fully loaded with 31,000 miles. Got it for $14,000 and love it.
If I bought a Mazda 2 sized car it would be a fiat 500.

You know, my girlfriend has a 2010 mazda 3. It has more room for the dog in the back, but otherwise it doesn't get good enough gas mileage (average of 25ish with the 2.5L) for a small car, but it's not luxurious enough to be a touring car. It's kind of a half assed inbetween hatch.

I haz one. Well, technically my mom has one that I daily during the summer. Black 2009 GT-M model, 3-door, 1.5 liters of fury under the hood, 16x7 allow Mazda wheels. Heated seats, climate control, iPod/bluetooth audio, cruise control, fog lights, yada yada. Get's decent mileage (6-6.5l/100km, convert yourself) freeway w/ CC set at 65-70 MPH. Towed a miata with 2 persons in it with surprising little effort.

Also took it to Le Mans and did 4-5 hour stints without problems. Comfy, yet sporty car. Also, miata wheels fit, I use my 14" hollow spokes for winter tires on them

For 18K I'd buy a used C5 Z06 or maybe even a C6.

How about a used Focus SVT? Honda Civic Si? Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V? Ford F-350?

A corvette is not the type of car I'm looking to get. Focus is bleh, I hate civics, Sentra is bleh.

F350? What?

Lies, you can't tow a miata with anything less than this:

Just got one (replaced the girlfriends jeep). I actually like it a lot. Decent gas mileage, and its not bad to drive either. (now I just need to pick up some 6uls for it.)
