Why do people ship with USPS?
I ordered a collector's barbie on Jan 31 as a gift from a non-prime Amazon seller. I will see my girlfriend this weekend, which is a full 2-weeks after I ordered. I am a little annoyed that I haven't recieved it yet, so I checked the tracking info on Amazon, and it was shipped by USPS on the 2nd, and the estimated delivery date is Feb 23!:vash: That is insane, and there appears to be nothing I can do to speed it up since it has already been shipped. I love amazon prime, but I always have the worst luck with the third-party sellers.

priority is great.
parcel mainly only saves a buck or two; idk why people just don't ship with priority. those flat rate boxes are a good deal and generally arrive in 2-3 business days. i've been shipping priority for several years, maybe even a decade and they've only fucked me once and it was partially my fault. i put some heavy ---- in one of those paper envelopes, the envelope broke and the heavy items fell out. wack...but the envelope arrived, just without the contents. |
Yeah, PhillyB has it right. Parcel post is the slow dog. Priority mail is GENRALLY 2-3 days anywhere in the US. I ship 90% of my ---- USPS Priority and have had ZERO complaints from customers and none myself for that matter.
If you ordered it more than 2 weeks ago and it was just shipped on the 2nd, that's the seller's fault for dragging his feet. The fact that he sent it parcel post is also dickish. Any GOOD seller/company that ships via USPS uses Priority mail. Looking for any more Barbie stuff? I have a client that apparently has TONS of vintage Barbie ----, but I havent checked it out myself yet. LMK if there's anything she's looking for in particular. |
I always ship USPS. I like when my packages get to their destination between 1-3 days and the Taxpayer subsidises most of the cost.
Why people ship anything but first class and priority? Because they want you to murder them. |
MiataTurbo has now truly arrived. Serious discussions about Barbies.
Anyway, First Class is the only way to go. People use it because entry level for UPS/FedEx Ground is like $12. |

I ship UPS or FedEx if its big or heavy. I ship freight if its super big or super heavy. All else goes via USPS Priority. Just finished packing this one up. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1328718720 |
I used to print all my labels on pink paper too, just for the addes touch.
|
I have used priority with good results, but this stupid seller must have used parcel post. Seriously, I can't imagine how it would take so long to get here unless they purposely slowed it down at all the processing centers.
|
i ordered some hardtop brackets from rennenmetal and they shipped parcel. i would have gladly paid the extra buck or two had i seen it as an option. took about three weeks to get from tx to pa
|
I shipped something first class on Saturday at 2pm just as the PO was closing. Got DELIVERED in PA on Monday.
I actually will use UPS Ground for packages that are in my 1-day delivery area...That's always exciting. |

but I would rock a playground springy rider thing. what's the character? Sold all 4 (panda, horse, chipmunk and duck) for $275 a peice. The guy I got them from was going to take them to the junkyard for scrap. 3 out of the 4 went to Texas. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1328722671 |

The guy that works the counter at UPS saw me coming in with it and said "I hope thats the last one!". He was happy to find out it was. Every time I go in with something different he asks what it is. He complains about anything over 50lbs or 50" though. |

Wow I want a springy animal thing. Those were fun.
I guess I can just screw a spring into a log and be done. |

Those springy things are the devil. I got drunk int Italy and found the park next to my house. Saw one of those spring things and couldn't resist. I was having a blast until I fell over and let go of the spring toy of death. Stupid thing swung fully the other way and bounced back, slamming me in the nuts. Hurt like hell. They are evil play things.
And ground shipping sucks. But, if I don't need it right now sometimes I'll forget I ordered it and it's like a random present in the mail when it shows. |
Just sent off a diff. carrier from WA to NM. UPS was $44 due to dimensional weight and a 'remote destination' fee or some such, Parcel Post was $24. Buyer chose Parcel Post, ETA 1 week.
I usually choose the balance between cost & speed and always communicate shipping methods and costs with the buyer. |

I use first class for all of my glasses packages unless they need them within 5 days. Then I use a "small flat rate box". The cost different is a couple bucks so it's worth it for me over time to use the cheaper method.
Anything less than 1lb i'll continue to ship via USPS if I want it to arrive in a timely fashion. |
f f FUCKY YOU USPS.
DOES IT REALLY TAKE FOUR DAYS FOR AN ENVELOPE TO GET FROM ARLINGTON VA TO COLUMBIA MD? WTF http://trkcnfrm1.smi.usps.com/PTSInt...82300200640791 |
I have decided that all of the shipping companies have their issues. Today I am upset with UPS because they wouldn't ship me a package with insurance unless I was to be home to sign for it. I have a job. Luckily I have tomorrow off, but I also have to go to a junkyard an hour away at some point, but I have no idea when the UPS guy usually comes, so I don't know if I should make my trip in the morning or the afternoon, and of course they won't tell you if you call. Just leave the stupid package on my porch, I live in the woods, nobody is going to steal it!

WTF http://trkcnfrm1.smi.usps.com/PTSInt...82300200640791 yes, becuase you sent it priorty and not first class. noob. UPS wouldnt leave a package out for me tuesday. I called and complained, as the tracking said it was attempted, but no one home to sign. Package was not signature required and UPS drivers ALWAYS leave me ----. They gave some bs ---- about how he cant leave a package that's signature required and i said it wasnt. then they asked for my door tag info where I explained he never left one. They got in touch with the driver and apparently he "used his discretion" and didnt feel comfortable leaving the package and would not come back that day. He redelivered on wednesday with a second package i was expecting. I heard him drop the packages down and knock like he always does. BUT still was about to leave a ------- door hanger for the second package. I was home when he showed up and opened the door...he's the kicker: he still made me sign for the second package. I was like this isnt signature required. he responded that my building isnt secure and he cant leave packages. when i questioned why he was leaving the other package as well as the other ones at the other doors in the hallway, he couldnt give me a straight answer. he was just pissed i caught him lying being a lazy ---- on tuesday and didnt bother delivering the package. of course I called back to complain, but they dont give a ----. |
this is why I never ship to my house. god forbid someone got me a beer of the month club shipped to my house. it was impossible to get it!!
|
FedEx often doesn't even knock at my house. I'll be home all day, then open the door to leave and there's a package on the porch. Thanks guys.
