Why does analog looks so bad on my HD LCD?
Why does my analog tv display an analog cable signal so much better than my HD LCD?
It looks really blurry and soft. Is there a setting where I can get my analog signal to display the same or better as an analog TV on my LCD? |
Forget it, found out why.

Yeah. From what I've seen, not gonna happen. Ever tried to play a PS1 or PS2 game on a HDTV? Horrible ----. I've been tempted to track down a decent size old analog TV just for playing old console games on.

Care to fill us in on why?
My dad has one and it looks like poop. Figured it was just because it was a cheap LCD. |
I was saying the same thing all week at the beach...hotel had 47" LCD tvs in the room but shitty TV signal...looks like ass and defaults to 13:9 mode on a 4:3 signal...so stupid.

I first experienced this phenomenon when I tried to connect my PS2 to my old laptop via USB Video capture card and display it at 1200x1600. While at the time, I suspected that the USB might have caused a huge bottleneck (firewire had just come out, and USB 2.0 didn't exist yet) I later figured that it had more to do with the way that a high res display shows an analog image.

My 55" rear-projector displays even crappy analog signals without any motion / color / rescaling artifacts, and at their native resolution and scanrate. |
