Why I love ebay

Now that I'm selling alot, I'm having more transactions than I've ever had at once and I'm dealing with alot more people.

Today I checked my recently sold items and saw that an auction for 72' trans am fender vents sold to a guy in Spain. Ok, no problem. So I get my shipping quote and send him the invoice. Shipping is $40, I tack on $5 for my time and materials, $45.

He emailed me back saying to not do it like this, do it like this, and its only $12. Ok, listen bitch....I have NO PROBLEM shipping internationally, but don't fucking tell me how much it is and how to do it. For fucks sake. :vash: I'm not retarded, I'm going to send it the cheapest way possible.

I wrote him back letting him know that it clearly states in all my auctions that international bidders need to contact me before bidding to avoid situations like this. This way when I told him it was $45, he could have passed. I can easily re-list the item if he doesn't want it, I just hate these stupid fucks that waste my time. Also leaves him the option to leave me bad feedback. :vash:

That's one thing I suck at, shipping quotes. I always get screwed at the end and end up loosing money, I hate it

The only time I received negative feedback is when some fuckhead stationed in Puerto Rico didn't understand that since he lives on an island, that everything comes in by air. Yes, I know shipping is $21.00 on a $15.00 item, and yes, I am sorry that I don't have a boat to float it down to you cheaper. Instead of buying this switch, why don't you buy a clue instead?

if everyone was smart you'd only be average

lol....its not about being smart, more so about not being a fucking idiot.

It just wastes my time. All the guy had to do was send me an email before he bid. Now he won the auction and doesn't want to pay what it costs me to ship it to him.

Also this past week I sold a pair of front seats for the same car. I started them at $1 with no reserve and they ended for $455. Then I get an email from ebay saying the winning bidder was bogus and the bid was removed. They had enough interest that I can go down the list of bidders, but again its just a waste of time.

I just got this email back from the buyer.

"Hi, the last ship I have got problems with the customs because since 15 September, other company works for international shippings. For this reason, I would prefer the first class international mail. This is not possible?"

I wrote back basically saying if you don't want to continue with this transaction.....thats fine. Then I got this email.

"Dont worry. I will pay it. Thanks"

lol......did he think I was going to?

Don't you select what ways you will ship items when you list them (Parcel Post, UPS) so that there is an approximation when they look at the item? BTW, I hate that feature because it allows people to pay before you have actually boxed and computed final postage.

I also always say I don't know anything about customs and international shipping. A Polish guy magically came up with a buddy's stateside address I could ship to instead after USPS said it would be about $60.

Yeah, you can set it up to calculate it but you need to have the dimensions and final box weight exact, otherwise like miataspeed said.....you get fucked.

I usually do a rough measurement and weigh the item itself, then get my own quote and tack on a little extra to cover myself. Rather than let the computer do it for me and possibly fuck me up.

I learned after maybe my 10th international shipment that doing that shit by hand at the post office is ridiculous. Now I make the forms myself online and keep those plastic sleeves for the customs papers in stock. So shipping international isn't so much the problem, its the people.

I ship international all the time, usps almost always wins for price. pretty much if you can fit it in a flat rate box, it's $30 anywhere in the world.

A front valence panel from a '74 Jensen Healey won't fit in a flat rate box, unfortunately. It's 50" long...

I hate the shipping part most of all. Even if I add three or four pounds to the item for packing, I always end up screwed when I get to the Post Orifice.

Vashthestampede 09-25-2009 11:39 AM

Today I have to ship things off a 72' trans am like the front bumper, rear seats, and the rear glass window. Fucking boxes are huge. I'm probably going to use UPS for those shits, also helps that powersellers get a UPS discount. :)

USPS pwns all with pricing. Except when the shits starts getting to big for the pussy mailman to pick up. :fawk:

I know the UK, France, and Germany tend to almost shut-down right now, celebrating the last of the nice weather. Sounds like Spain might be doing the same thing.

I ask sellers in the US to use USPS where possible, couriers are stupid expensive. Funnily enough shipping from New Zealand/Oz seems much cheaper for some reason..
