Wii vs PS3 vs Xbox360

Well I know its not really relevant; but for those of you that do the racing video games and just general video games.. just wanted to see what your next console of choice will be. I definitely got pre-order spot number 10 of 14 for a wii. Might sell it on ebay tho since they are fetching 600ish bucks!

miatamania 10-18-2006 09:03 AM

wow. I've seen the new PS3s already going for like 1000-1500 its ridiculous.

hustler 10-18-2006 09:07 AM

anyone who pays $700 for a console, 1 game, and an HD cable needs to re-evaluate thier life...and buy me a turbo system.

Braineack 10-18-2006 09:19 AM

i dont think I could ever get used to the wii controller.

Ben 10-18-2006 09:22 AM

Well since I already have the 360 I guess my vote would be biased.

The 360 is sick. Buy one. Seriously.

Mach929 10-18-2006 09:28 AM

+1, already have a 360. It's out already, and all the good games are coming out soon

Newbsauce 10-18-2006 09:35 AM

Well in my defense on the 360.. my best friend has had 2 now.. they both broke due to defects.. so I just figured.. I'll try something new. The wii is only 250 bucks and does have a beast controller. You plug the wiimote thing into a steering wheel to control racing games.

Mach929 10-18-2006 09:58 AM

i haven't had any problems with mine. one of my friends is really into computer games(not trying to start an argument here), but the exactl same games play just as well if not better on my 360 than his computer. for me it was $400 vs $2000+ to build a new computer to be able to play modern games. all i use my computer for is the internet and it's fine.

Newbsauce 10-18-2006 10:29 AM

Well to be honest, as far as specs, and capability of games, computers are still superior to consoles (speed, storage, video capabilities, AI). The only limiting factor really is the lack of HD output on most computers. The REAL advantage will be seen in the next generation of graphics cards, which will most likely come complete with secondary physics processors. These will act independant of the graphics cards to calculate "realism". When you shoot something in the environment, it will break...yes its available now, but not to the extent available with the addition of a physics GPU.

so when does the first free ps3 emulator come out for a driving sim. Aside from gran turismo, I just need GTA and I'm happy.

Newbsauce 10-18-2006 11:09 AM

Forza motorsports is always a classic

Don't put any stock into PS3 yet. They've pushed the release date back several times for different problems. It's SUPPOSED to be out for the holiday's, but most of the gaming mags are saying it won't. 360 has already cornered the market and most of the software issues they had with the initial batches are fixed... shouldn't be any more crashing or LAN issues.

The advantage of it being a BlueRay player will be a moot point next summer as many companies are scheduled to start releasing both BlueRay and HD-DVD in the sub $200 range. The first combo player will corner that market overnight... assuming a company could get rights for both. Additionally, if Sony doesn't pull its head out of it's ass, BlueRay will go the way of Betamax... especially since PS3 is so late.

I haven't tried a a Wii yet, but after Gamecube sucked something awful, I'm gunshy there.

Newbsauce 10-18-2006 12:21 PM

360 has cornered the market in the US, but not in Japan. The only sold something liek 250k there, as its a mostly Sony market. Blue ray will pretty much suck since most people will not support it. PS3 is really screwed in a big way, they cut their production numbers SIGNIFICANTLY, not to mention its 700 dollar price tag. I had a gamecube.. it was pretty lame, minus the 6-25 dollar price tag for games. I'm hoping for better in the wii.

turbopezz 10-19-2006 12:44 AM

yea my lil sis bought game cube when it cam out:td: i felt bad for nintendo:sadwavey:

TurboMiatKid 10-20-2006 12:18 AM

Yep game cube sucks.:td:. If i had $700 to spend and I couldn't use it for my car, I would go rally across Texas and have money for the tickets. Or you know just sign up for the local-ish auto cross club.

bartsimpson 10-20-2006 03:59 PM

I am sticking with my PS2 = cheap games and all new games push the unit to its limits and the only thing it lacks is the HD output. I also have DS just for the occasional mobile games that my kid can also play.
I paid top $$$ on the PS and then on the PS2 when they first came out - I will not do this a 3rd time - I'll be waiting for 1) for the price to go down 2) make sure that the PS3 can actually make it.

Pitlab77 10-20-2006 06:37 PM

Real life > than video game. I learned that several years ago.

I can not justify paying more than 200 for a video game system.

Newbsauce 10-20-2006 07:16 PM

You can claim that now.. but.theres no substitute for Grand Theft Auto haha.

Mach929 10-21-2006 11:43 AM

well the only reason i bought my xbox 360 was that my girlfriend was going to be away for the weekend, so i started calling up some friend to see what i could do for the weekend. One was sick, some were away.......so i had nothing to do all weekend and it was going to rain which meant i couldn't enjoy the miata or my bike to i said fuck it, went to the mall bought the 360, it's what i do when it's crappy out and i have nothing to do. with the winter coming i anticipate buying more games and playing more since i hate cold weather.

Newbsauce 10-22-2006 12:50 PM

I do the same damn thing.. whenever I know I have nothing to do I have a problem with going to the mall and buying some damn video game system
