Wicked swap. I think I would go with a smaller turbo and just make around 400hp. Would be a retarded street car!

Why...when 1000 whp is so much more fun?:eek5:

m2cupcar 06-20-2008 11:42 AM

air cooled?

naarleven 06-20-2008 11:45 AM

Jesus, looks like the racing snail from the neverending story.

Zabac 06-20-2008 12:03 PM

Is that a RHD?

edit: nevermind, it is...where is that thing? The turbo is not even positioned properly to be mounted, looks like joke or something.

18psi 06-20-2008 12:49 PM

holy crap thats retarded. the idea of it is badass, but when you think: supra's are a pain in the ass to get traction in as is, subtract from that like half the weight, and add like 3 times the horsepower = no traction in any gear ever unless on slicks

ApexOnYou 06-20-2008 12:56 PM

That will still roast slicks

But I guess if some is good, and more is better, than too much is just right.. or however that saying goes.

Pitlab77 06-20-2008 01:48 PM

you usually i say nothing it stupid bad damn, its hard enough to get traction on a 400rwhp miata let alone that much power and tq

The_Pipefather 06-20-2008 06:06 PM

i dont understand the rationale behind this. Its much easier to make the same power and torque with a V8 swap, twin turbo if need be.

Juffa 06-20-2008 11:10 PM

That Yella one looks like a Bullet roadster. Mind you that is not the one of the motors that Bullet normally offer.

That white one lookins like an Aussie MX-5. There is a local club member doing something similar with his. The problem with a V8 (and other forms of FI) is getting it on the road legally here in Aust. As soon as you replace/modify the ECU you are in violation of most states laws. A Nissan based engine in an MX-5, with standard ECU is easier to comply than a OEM engine with replacement/modified ECU. Yes you can get away without getting complied, but if you are caught you the car is taken off the road until compliance can be proven.

+1 on asking for more info. There's a local Supra with over 700 whp doing under 10 sec in the 1/4 mile. That thing must be insane! I mean, there's a forum member who's right now building a turboed V8 NB Miata but only for drag racing. That Miata on the other hand looks like it can be driven on a track! :)

Please Hustler, any more info?

Thanks

disturbedfan121 06-20-2008 11:31 PM

crazy swap, i like the Japanese guys who did the rb25dett in a miata

J.T. 06-20-2008 11:43 PM

Anyone else notice it needed two filters to get enough air? That car looks like...dare I say it?...Too much

Any LSX series swap uses the stock LSX ECU and gets you 350+ to the wheels. And you can flash the stock ECU to pass pretty much anything that comes out of the OBDII port aside from proper tuning. I don't get where a Nissan based swap would gain you anything.

I think and I maybe wrong, what he is saying is that you can't do an ecu swap, the ecu must be an original ecu, but that still doesn't make full sence.

BTW can someone change the name as that is not a 2jz, its a 1jz.

I do remember when the guy first posted, he said that the motor fit in without cutting the stock subframe, now he never posted photos, but I do know the 1jz come in both mid and rear sumps. I know he said he was using the 1jz out of a supra which means rear sump.

If you search on M.net for 1jz you can find the few post the guy made, but he never posted anything after the first few photos. He did say he was not using a standard tranny but I believe a turbo 350.

cjernigan 06-21-2008 07:24 PM

What magazine is that with the yellow one?

Absolutely. In Maryland, you need to swap a car motor that is the same year or newer than the body it is going into. For OBDII, as long as it passes the port scan and a visual (for cats, which I've never seen them do here) it will pass emissions.

So my LS6 from an '01 'Vette is actually going to be controlled by an '04 GTO ECU/wiring harness in my '01 Miata.

I dunno man, all the wonderful information that's coming out of it...maybe we could start ANOTHER thread just like it with all the useful post and keep the BS repetitions of the same three facts here?
