0-60 question
#9
Faster 0-60 time can be achieved with weight reduction. Lighter wheels, striped interior, carbon fiber this and that and a light weight flywheel. That's why you don't see race cars sporting 22" spinners and such. Reduction of rotating mass (wheels and flywheel) can be significant.
Think about it this way. 8lb flywheel is about a 10lb reduction for what about $300-350? Price out a set of lightweight wheels that will reduce the weight by 2.5lbs each (think below 10lbs per corner). Flywheel seems cheap in comparison.
For a search on m.net for posts by Loren about his messurements before and after an aluminium flywheel.
I've got one, if I had to do it again I wouldn't have bothered. The small gain I got is dwarfed by what I gained with the turbo.

Here is an article on rotational inertia from SCC years ago....click next page to continue reading the article.

i guess i am looking at it too simply. but if your clutch is crap yea a new one will obviously help you get the power down faster instead of spinning your clutch. but if its not you tend to get a faster harder bite and usually helps you cherp the tires a little. the lighter fly will help the revs change faster accelerating and decelerating. so theyll drop faster when you left off the gas to shift, meaning you can get it into gear faster. short throws are a perfect compliment to a light fly because of this. yea you should be able to drop your 0-60's i was able to change my 0-60's by 1-2 10ths depending on how fast i shift. with a light fly and short throw and learn to use it you can sound like you have a sequential
