Are you a civilian or in the military? If you are in the military then all I expect is 2 hrs of work a day, since you should work the same as you get paid, VERY LITTLE. I have to say that when I was in Kuwait in '01 I was lucky to get 2hrs of sleep a day, TOTAL.

I was the Commo guy plus the Armour. I was too good at my Commo job, I could diagnosis the radios without even looking at them.

Scouts - "The radio don't work."
Me - "What does it do?"
Scouts - "It blah blah blah..."
Me - "Here, this will fix it, go put it on and bring me the broken one."

I was CHILLING...for the first 3 wks. Then I got selected to be the Armour and the HELL BEGAN! We had convoys go ouevery hour on the hour...and they needed to draw weapons 20 min prior. So EVERY HOUR, 24hrs a day, I had to open the Arms Room and issue weapons and ammo. That takes 5-10 min total...but then the convoys get back at random times, so then I had to open the Arms Room back up and sign in their weapons and ammo. No, they wouldn't wait for the next out-going convoy, they wanted to goto the PX or to the movie theatre, etc. And then to further fuck me up, they would turn-in their weapons TWICE when they returned. The first group would turn-in, then the group who had to stay and clean he vehicles out and/or turn in the Secure Comms would come in 10 min later. Do that for 5months. I started sleeping with my shoes on, cause that was 10 more seconds I could sleep. I had a guy ask me who I had gotten in a fight with, cause I had two of the biggest black eyes he had ever seen. My response, "Don't sleep for 3 wks."

Oh yeah, I am at work, too. I can't feel guilty about "not working" anymore. I have paid the price.

Army, 96B.

The pay isn't too bad relative to what I made as a tire tech before joining, it's actually about double. But relative to what I can make with my experience and clearance working for a civilian firm..

You actually do that stuff? I bombed a chemistry test today because I forgot my calculator and made the mistake of trying to do the calculations on paper. I don't think I've passed an exam yet, but thats college baby :bigtu:

I don't work (bagboy in highschool), but i always talked to the produce guy back in produce so they thought i was cleaning toilets or sumthin :dunno:

Just finished my Calculus II HW about 5 minutes ago. I just don't understand 'area enclosed by the curves' I swear they teach about twice as fast as I can learn. Looking forward to 'takin it next semester... and I know Why... '

miata4eva 09-24-2007 11:57 PM

calculus sux, but if u get it u kno u gonna be getting a 6digit salary

neogenesis2004 09-24-2007 11:58 PM

its called integration ;) its pretty fucking easy.

mazda/nissan 09-25-2007 12:01 AM

its called gay, my engineering class is easy enough, one portfolio at the end of the semester :bigtu: i'm only in calc 141 now so i don't know what ur talking about, i still hate limits

Yea, I know it's integration. I'm learning, but let's just say I'm not the sharpest lightbulb. I'm slowly starting to get it. Once I get the problem set up and find my limits of intergration, I've got it.

I'll take a 6 digit salary. Maybe I need to work some more Cal problems.

Limit's are pretty fucking easy. Just try doing them backwards.

mazda/nissan 09-25-2007 12:05 AM

easier said then done, my teacher is spanish and my TA is indian and says vediable=variable. But yeah i need to buck up and practice because that chapter is old news now :td:

If it's easy, TEACH ME!

Find the volume of the solid obtained by rotating the region bounded by the given curves about the specified axis.

Y= Square Root of (x-2), X=3, X=8, Y=0; about the X-axis.

I get 76.39 finding the intergral from 3-8. The 'solution' I get say's I should evaluate the intergral from 3-6. Why not 3-8? They solve from 3-6 and get 54.98? I'm confused. This is the only one where they change the limit's of intergration on me.

Suman Hameed was my Cal I teacher. "HICK" is how he pronounced the letter 'h'. He could barely speak english. Cal II I have a better teacher.

mazda/nissan 09-25-2007 12:14 AM

Shit i should start coming here for tutoring. THX PHILIP, YOU HAVE DONE MORE THAN AN INTERNET SITE, YOU HAVE GIVEN ME HOPE

yeah i got raped on ratemyproffesor

bryantaylor 09-25-2007 12:24 AM

they should change the name: maitaturbo&calculustutoring.net

My university has their own site to research various teachers. I used it and ratemyproffesor to pick my teachers. I looked up 3 diff. cal teachers and went and met each of them before picking the great teacher I have now. I understand what we do in class, but as always, the HW is a week ahead of what we do in class and usually more difficult problems.

Come on neogenesis2004, HELP ME!!!! It's fuckin easy!

that sounds like integration to me. On the positive side you learn calculus, spanglish and inglish in one class. :D

Not sure where the limits of 3 -> 6 come from (if they're hand-written 'solutions' from a TA/professor, etc., then it's either sloppy writing or a 'typo'), but the answer is most certainly 35π/2 ~= 54.98. If you need it written out, I can give it to you.

Yes, Please. Are you saying the correct answer is 54.98? Thanks for any help.

patsmx5 09-25-2007 10:09 AM

yep, going to have to get philip to open a sub forum under bs for calculus tutoring.

Richard: if your good at calculus your my new best friend.

Thanks. I reworked the problem before my cal class and got the right answer. I forgot to distribute the pie and also made a sign error on my first attempt. I asked the teacher and she verified that it should be 3-8 and that 3-6 was a typo.
I got to take my time and work slowly so I'll quite making simple mistakes. I guess I understand how to do it, but I'm not competant enough to work them out without showing every step and going back and checking myself to make sure I didn't make a simple mistake.

Richard is a calculus expert? Hey Richard, I'll rewire your car if you teach me Calculus. I'll even stop harassing you about FMICs. I got a test thursday and I'm hoping to do well instead of failing it like my last test.

hustler 09-25-2007 06:32 PM

i went to a meeting at 10 for some field work, finished at noon, went back to the hotel, watched some TV, then the gym. Now I'm thinking about taking the hard-top off and going for a spin.
