The worst handling car in the world.

Everyone here drives like a 17 year old boy trying to impress a girl in the backseat. They literally drive their cars as fast as they will go. Unfortunately, this is my rental car. I have almost slid into a wall three times so far, all at night and in the rain. The roads are terrible except for all of the curves, my kingdom for my miata! This thing sounds like it has a bent valve, can't smoke the tires (clutch just shudders!) and is scary as hell with a side wind. At least its big enough to get all of us and our shit to the airport in a week. One of my wife's thousands of cousins has a Lancia Rally with almost no km on it but he didn't offer to let me drive it, I couldn't blame him. But I am so sick of being passed, its very degrading. :vash:

Can you say UNDERSTEER? (Its so bad loaded down that once it pushes it keeps pushing even when you have scrubbed off some speed.)

Could this be the culprit?

I promise I will wash it afterwards!

Considering the world of shit boxes here, you should have seen my face when I saw this in his garage. He only runs race fuel in it, which is insane considering crap fuel here is $8 a gallon.

Hi rotary, are you in italy now?
The license plate of the "delta integrale" (great car, was fairy common in the past, but now is a collectors car) says AG (Agrigento) so you are in Sicily, right? :bigtu:

Too bad you rented an Opel Agila... you should pick a local crappy car like fiat punto or panda...:bigtu:

...and remember the gasoline price we have down here, compared to what you pay in the US! :vash::vash:

rotaryjunky 12-30-2007 02:38 PM

My uncle has an old panda in Guardia Piemontese in Calabria. Its not fast. And he drives really slow. The combination is a little annoying.

The Agila was an "upgrade" (we only paid 370 for over two weeks) and at least it fits everything. But I actually like the new panda, looks wise, but it probably has 60cv or something. You are so incredibly lucky to be able to have (soon) a turbo miata in this country. I wanted to rent something sporty so bad but it was incredibly expensive, like everything here. The opel corsa I had last time was even way more fun. And the roads are all curves and hills and you can drive however you like.

How the hell are you getting away with driving your car here?

We are here in Grotte (near Agrigento) for most of the time and back and forth with Palermo, where the police wear ski masks and a handful of stores actually market themselves as "Mafia free". We are taking little day trips but its a pain with the kids and relatives, so we're mostly just bored off our asses. At least some of the relatives I keep kissing (25+ visitors this evening) are attractive women. Its the little things. And the porn on regular TV is ok too.

What have I done!?

My cousin asked me to help her find a car today and the best deal we found was a 2004 Opel Agila. It seemed pretty ironic but she bought it with my blessings. It has the 89hp vs 60hp, and it drives worlds better. They needed the space for their family and it has AC and cd stereo! (many don't) It has about 14K miles and was about $8000. I know its a Suzuki made in Hungary (and the scion XB is a Diahatsu), but it was by far the best option in one day. It drives me crazy when relatives expect me to find a deal in one day in a foreign country, and now my other cousin wants me to find her a car tomorrow. At least it gives me something to do.

Do you guys think that 175/55-14s would fit on the Agila?

Ahaha, the italian traditional chirstmas reunions are terrible, even in the north...
For some traditions (and other things...you know what I mean :inout:), Sicily ,and some other regions expecilly in the south, are very different from the rest of the country.
I live in Turin, the third italian city after Milan, and it's very different from the south... expecially from Palermo! :)

You said that Palermo is expensive, but the only thing i love of the south is that usually everything is cheaper than in the north! I really have to move to US....

Rome was stupid crazy. One night in a cheap hotel was my clutch. Although I find it very unhealthy to think that way. My last crappy restaurant meal was a new set of plug wires.....
