Default Wristwatches

My trusty Seiko Automatic has died. Well, actually I killed it. Last week I dropped it in the sink (full of water) and it stopped. I opened it up to dry it out, and it was working, but running slow. Today (after resetting it about 5 times in 12 hours), it pissed me off, so I opened it up to blow it out with pure nitrogen. The blast screwed up the hairspring. After 7 years, I guess I got my $18 worth out of it.

So, I need a watch. No, not some overpriced, pretentious brand. Something plain, reliable and cheap. I prefer analog, but would consider a digital if they made one that didn't look so damn goofy. Simple, clean lines. Aside: why is it that most expensive watches are tastefully plain, but the cheap ones have all sorts of needless and nonfunctional crap added? What the heck is up with non-functional chrono dials?

So, get another 5 series Seiko? Anyone have one of those solar or Eco-drive models? Say the hell with it and get the $20 special at wally world? If you had to get a watch, where would you go and how much would you spend?

Decent site. I won't spend OSGiken money on a watch.

Very similar to the one I killed. I'm leaning toward getting another one.

Fossil. They're attactive, tough, inexpensive, and have a fantastic warranty.

No way I'd ever pay big bucks for a watch. That's just pretentious. All it does is tell the time, so it's no better than a good quality watch at a reasonable price. It's just advertising that the wearer is a ********.

Yup and cars just get you from a to b, so why don't we all just drive KIA's. Just because there are expensive watches, doesn't make them pretentious to wear. They aren't all solid gold and filled with diamonds. I have several expensive watches that I love wearing for various reasons, cost not being one of them.

Expensive as is 2-3 hundred? That's okay. You pay for nice.

It's the 10 to 20 thousand dollar ones I'm talking about. Or the 1000 dollar jewel encrusted pieces of crap that won't keep time.
