just curious
a convesation on m.net about buying cars for cash straight up (and some are saying just save up and pay 15k+ cash for a car) got me thinking. Just wondering what the salary ranges look like here for the DIY guys vs. as some term them checkbook racers.

Back in Cali, the wife made what I did, but out here in Virginia, nurses don't make ****... good thing houses are about 1/3 price.

How many years do you have in, Sam? Any prior enlisted service?
I'm guessing an 03 base pay + BAH + BAS = 1 million gazillion fuffillion dollars. Or at least compared to an E3 @ <2 years.

I work road construction in Alaska during the summer as a heavy equipment operator, and make a good wage. More than enough to go to TN for 9 months, pay for room and board, a use turbo'd '99 miata, vacation to hawaii and another to Florida, while living a good college student life in Tennessee. I'm happy, that's about it, not much excess floating around but enough to have plenty of fun.
I would only pay cash for a car, i hate bills.

my base is $42, but after overtime and per-diem, I'm looking at $73k this year.
However, I only pay cash for cars. I don't drive anything worth a ****, but I'm about to drop $8k on a 2003-2005 4-door frontier or colorado.

I didn't know we were doing significant others, my girls makeing 60+ next year first year out of school and combined were pulling 110 (not including bonuses at least another 10-20)
Im convincing her to buy me a bike (yeah another one)
When the bank starts rolling in, everything i do will still be DIY, but alot better quality.
