How retarded would it be to take my daily drivetrain and swap it into a 510, including the harness, and run eMS2 on it? lol

I've done (OK, in the process of doing) something more retarded, FWIW. I'd say go for it.

Do it. You won't do it.

I can't do much of anything for the next four years until I get a workspace.

real chrome on real retro cars is okay.

<--- Is in the process of removing every stitch of chrome from the SAABata including decorative chrome and both bumpers. Bumpers are completely overrated. And heavy. And they have no place on a track car.

And I'm not a child, regardless of what my wife says.

Seriously? You'd take that 16 second turd over the 510 OP posted?

Does the "Throttle response" make up for the complete lack of power?

I like everything about the first one, except that intercooler. Just... no.
Second one is retarded just based on the angle of the seats.

can somebody educate me on why somebody would go to all that work for a vg30e? its probably the closest thing nissan has to a LSx (the iron block version) i guess but i don't get it.

it is a nice car and i'm a fan of both 510s and 2002s.

you saying I'm biased because my dad owned a metal plating shop and chromed just about every piece of metal we had lying around??

He recently just offered me the chrome and brass nuts-n-bolts chess set.

also my first two bicycles were chrome. not sure what brand they were. dad just stripped em and dipped em.

Vg30e is cheap, actually lighter than the aluminum block vg motors and comparable to other 4 cylinder swaps. True they are not high revving without a lot of work but 7K is easily do able. The pistons and rods are good for 400+hp stock and you can swap in the forged rods from the DETT motor for cheap with some easy mods, pistons from a VK45 too maybe don't remember. The block is tough and they are made for big boost hell they have 13 head bolts per head. Nissan was making like 1100-1500hp on turbo versions for IMSA racing on modified vg motors.

You guys are looking at this all wrong. The blue car is a (structural) rust free Texas survivor/ old lady barn car with legit patina and a bad *** drivetrain that makes beautiful noises and will last forever. Looks like granny's daily driver, and sounds like a sport bike. It has all killer electronics and suspension. Everthing (except the bladder-less fuel cell, I guess) is done correctly, and with nice parts. This is old car gold. Plus he's asking half the price that the red car is going for.

BTW, the harnesses are bolted to the factory rear seat belt mounts. That's the safest place to put them on a 4 door 510 without a roll bar, as the b-pillars are too far forward to run a normal harness bar. They do the same thing with Mk1 and Mk2 Jettas/ Golfs.

somewhere someone probably makes a "blackout" kit for that. it's likely strips of vinyl you just cover over it with.

also those are probably vacuum metalized if they're plastic.

Don't get me wrong I really liked this car when I saw it listed somewhere else.
an SR20VE would be my second choice after an FJ20(just too much of a pain to get parts here in the US). I would love to get some N1 cams or Kelfords and really make it sing. Even as it is it probably runs 13s or so it isn't slow. The suspension stuff is ok the Tech coilovers are just repackaged AGXs though aren't they.
The patina is cool and appeals to purists but cost is the ultimate arbiter.
You think he'd sell for 10K? seems like I remember he was asking like 15K and said not to bother him for less.

+1 i was trying to be polite cause ive been kind of an *** recently, but i have to say i agree. after discovering that my track car is a "rust free colorado" car im pretty sure the only people who would say that are from MN. lesser products have better marketing for a reason....
