Yay, I finally get to contribute to the gun thread. First purchase in quite a few years.
It is smaller than the ruger MK but more importantly, it's a thousand times easier to field strip and clean. The Ruger mk pistols are like putting together a booby-trapped grandfather clock. The ppk takes literally 5 seconds for assembly or disassembly. You just pull down on the trigger guard and lift the slide. It's fabulous.
Haven't shot it yet. Can is an Element 2 which I bought a while back.

Walther PPK/S 22LR are for sale on AIM Surplus right now for 300 something.
The barrel is threaded, but it's a gay metric thread size that doesn't extend past the slide. You can get an adapter that puts normal threads out beyond the slide for like 20 bucks fromtactical inc just google it I forget the website.
edit: I looked at the receipt, it's www.tacticalinc.com for the adapter.

Shot the pistol yesterday.
It's really quiet, mostly accurate (I shot it a bunch and it started getting really hot from the can, which probably didn't help) and the stuff from a box of federal pistol match ammo doesn't cycle it at all. The higher velocity stuff (all still subsonic from even a decently long pistol) had zero problems and even most of the subsonic stuff (ie, subsonic even from a rifle) worked fine.
Edit- OK, turns out that the gun was losing accuracy because the nut at the end of the barrel where the thread adapter goes got a bit loose (my bad?). And that is the only thing retaining the barrel sleeve (why does the barrel have a sleeve), which is what retains the barrel against the frame. So the whole barrel was flopping around basically. Also interesting, you need the stock barrel nut to assemble the pistol or the barrel sleeve will get loose during assembly and bind up the slide.

Alright, I need opinions on my lightweight AR build. Shooting for ~5.5lbs when it's done.
Lower\upper\grip\bolt carrier assembly already done. At this point, I have to go in one of two directions:
1) Make an AR pistol using the shockwave brace, which weighs in ~5oz heavier than the smoke composites stock I was considering. This would allow for a shorter barrel and better overall balance, I suspect. I just don't want to go to pound-my-*** prison if I shoulder this thing.
2) Smoke composites stock with a 14.5" barrel + titanium flash hider/muzzle brake. lighter, but less balanced.
Thoughts?
edit: money is an object, looking to stay under $1000. Everything pictured is just shy of 2lbs, 4 oz, with $275 spent so far. That leaves me roughly 3lbs and $725 to play with

$200 stamp
(15oz) $150 Faxon (or whoever) 7.5" lightweight contour
(save .5oz) $40 barrel cut and target crown (you don't need a muzzle device)
(2oz) $20 steel gas block + tube
(7.15oz) $140 Handguard https://www.odinworks.com/KMod_Forends_p/f-5-km.htm
That's 24.5oz and $500... leaving you 1lb (and $225) for an LPK/buffer/spring which is all that's left that I can see. You're not gonna get a Geissele and the rest in that budget, but the ALG ACT is damned good for the price, and that leaves you some wiggle for a few titanium parts in the LPK... takedown pins, trigger pins, etc... Heck, that's enough spare ounces to go with any weight buffer you like. Also... kinda mandatory for a foregip of some kind with a rig that short. I'm partial to stubbies, but there are quite a few angles foregrips that give more hand placement options.

In the past, form 4s have taken roughly six months to process, for me at least. I've heard of recent ones going for 6-9 months but it varies by state. I bought both of my cans in FL, which has multiple examiners assigned to it, or at least used to. Some states share a single examiner with other states while some states have one and other states have multiple.

They're opening a new Field and Stream here in town... Grand Opening this weekend, 8am on Friday.
I'm buying a Savage Rascal... youth .22lr. Website says they should be about $150, but Savage recently modified their perpetual rebate program to include the Rascal for $25. After tax and rebate, it should be under $140. Nobody stocks Crickets in-store, and even the cheapest places online will about $140 after transfer fee. Plus, the Savage has a lot more metal in the receiver/bolt assembly vice the plastic in the Cricket, and the sights are much better... it's a superior gun.
I've also got a place online to make slip-on threaded barrel adapters so I can attach a suppressor without actually threading the barrel. Best Dad ever award coming my way. Plus, my girl insists on the black one vice a colored version, so I don't have to pay any premium for pink... although the dark-green it pretty ****.

Jumpin Jesus. I thought my AR pistol had a short barrel.
For some reason (aesthetics) I'm thinking barrel length somewhere between 10-14.5"
As far as handguards, I've also been looking at these. They're longer than the one you posted, but lighter and cheaper:
Ergonomic Modular Rail (EMR) V1 M-LOK
https://www.rainierarms.com/bowden-a...ok-rail-system
All of my other ARs are cheap and ugly, I kinda want this to be my "pretty" one

I just ordered one of these to go on my other lower. I'm just going to drop it on my current lower to start as is. I'll wait for an LPK to go on sale or a trigger to go on sale and just buy a triggerless lpk. Next time a nice free float handy goes on sale I'll grab one of those and swap my adjustable gasblock over to this one and pickup a lightweight bcg and jb captured recoil assembly.

Its 9mm so I mean like a 4" barrel is just a midsized pistol.

Oddly enough, those cheapy plastic handguards are lighter than most "lightweight" rails. Obviously can't mount 2 flashlights, offset BUIS, laser and all the other bullshit that way though.
