The "what's the smallest round you would carry" question is more common than "Ford or Chevy".
We all know bottom line is shot placement. Yup, you can take a couple .45's to the chest and walk away fine... or a .25 to the leg and bleed out your femoral in a few minutes.
A guy who takes 3x .357's the chest and still swings a bat at you means you get to shoot him at least 2 more times. It's also falls into the category of "if I'm going to plan for scenarios this far off the curve, I should consider never leaving my bed again."
When you do all the homework on Caliber/Capacity/Brand/Type/Ammo/CarryMethod/Penetration/Expansion/Placement/etc... what you come down to is simply playing the odds.
The odds are if you ever have to draw and fire, it will be against a single perp. If you want to play the odds even further, it will be in low'ish light, he will have a weapon of some kind, and it will be at extremely close (if not point-blank) range.
The next variable is simply what you're willing to put up with carrying. If your ideal carry weapon is small, then a 5-shot .357 snub with a grip-laser is the ultimate CCW.
If you want more ammo, then a single-stack 9mm.
If you can go with a larger gun, then a Glock 30.
If you can go larger, then a Glock 23.
This is open for debate, but the odds are that if you ever have to fire, it will be against one dude, at night, he won't be carrying a gun, he will be within arms reach, and you will fire one, maybe 2 shots. A .357 snub with a Crimson Trace grip can't be beat if you play the odds.

Any of you fellas have a holster mounted in your Miata anywhere?
Have been thinking about ordering something from Texas Custom Holsters or buying some crappy Fobus paddle holster to screw down somewhere but wanted to see if anyone else has anything already dreamed up?

For the Glock in NM I couldn't sit in the Sparcos with a open carry. Where the center console/dash ends near the drivers calf I could clip my BlackHawk there. Had the little disk quick release thing they make. Would just disconnect and reconnect it there on a belt type clip. But, to be honest I liked my soft holster and would just wedge it between the seat and the tunnel. It is an GlOck 23 RTF and the grip is like velcro on the interior carpet and seat, and the soft holster had enough give to just callapse in the seat and not bother my sweet baby soft virgin hips.

There's nothing wrong with my Kahr, but its hard to hit anything with it. You have to use a lot of KY windage because the sights are not adjustable. I have a Don Hume ITWB holster I wear at 12 o'clock. I either put it between the passenger seat and tunnel or, more often, clip it in the little pouch thing on the driver door since I'm a lefty.
Actually I lied. There is something wrong with my Kahr. I went to the range today and I suspect the firing pin is getting weak. I had a couple primers get hit and not go off the first time with two different brands. That's never happened until the last two times at the range (both within the last month).

kicking back, trying to pop a couple coons with my supressed GSG-5, freaking thing is super quiet with sub .22lr... and this in a populated neighborhood, lucky I got woods in my back yard.

Speaking of good triggers...
Smith & Wesson Model 695 in .44spl.
First time I've ever shot this gun, double action only, 25 yards, two handed standing. What a great buy!

I did cut the barrel and then Form 1 a can for it - I actually used the fake supressor body. It doesn't want lock back the hammer now some times (or something) - probably b/c of the shorten barrel not giving enough backpressure to cycle the action. It will load another round, but when the hammer falls it feels and sounds like more of one of those spring suction-cup pisols - with no indent on the rim of the case. Just haven't had time to look into it, been cycling by hand.
