You American people I mean really……
…… you made my trip wonderful.
Border guy was awesome, no attitude at all even though I had to go inside for finger prints (I am from whole nother nother country) . Our first Wal-Mart was like a stepford wifes movie. Every employee in there asked us at least twice can I help you, is there anything we can do. The Subway guys were racing to build our subs and I couldn’t keep up – um green pepper, um cucumbers, could I have extra onions “yes sir just ask”. I don’t remember staff that friendly back home. People were happy to offer service, genuinely happy. Strangers were answering my questions etc. I found all your countrymen friendly and positive. Always hearing that we were so friendly and courteous had biased be. I’ve now flip-flopped. We went to (Yellowstone) Old Faithful and a random couple started chewing the fat with us. Nice older couple, and in a few min we knew lots about them. We have some nice mountains back home but the geothermal activity was quite unique. Then there’s the speed limit. We are limited to 110km/hr, vs. your 130km/hr (80 in Idaho) I felt guilty the whole time especially since I was going 85 (137km/hr) Knowing that people have guns in huge numbers for some reason was also pleasant. Overbearing government is wrong and you guys have the least intrusive govt. of all. I really like the Patriotism as well. Flags everywhere. You care about your home and will defend that to the end. Then there was the the one Mexican restaurant we had time for (Pachangas in Idaho Falls); so good and so inexpensive. One odd thing was that I only ever saw a police car three times in 5 days and we did 3500kms of driving. Good or bad I don’t know? And finally the prices on most goods were from 25-50% cheaper. We loaded up to our 5 day duty free max. But wait there's more - who can deny TruMoo whole chocolate milk……so good…….. Were going back now every year once or twice or maybe thrice……. |
Thank you.
One thing to remember though. From the sounds of it you came here on vacation. In tourist spots... Lots of which i've also been to. I'll tell you this, it's not as nice everywhere in this country. To be simple, the livelihood and laid back atmosphere depends on customer service. It's their living and way of life. All i'm saying is it's a big country and it's different depending on where you are. I'm sure i'll pass 4 cop cars on my 30 minute drive home today. Then get shitty service at the gas station or something. |

As Tourists yes we see a different side of things.
I was told by a person who visits Arizona all the time that the further south the better his service was. He loves Arizona. |
You Canadians . . . you're alright (even if the Queen is still on your money).
|
American money feels like cheap paper, and we actually had to look at the numbers not the colors to know the denomination. I felt like I could have counter fitted it with a pencil and the dullest green pencil crayon available........no offense
You have to admit Canadian money is pretty cool. All 85% of it ! (Exchange rate) |
Interesting..... I thought the same thing about Canada.... lol
Everyone I've come across up there has been awesome! |

Lars I'm tempted to drive up there just based on those pictures you posted of all the smoked meats you keep making
|
What I want is some Pecan Pie made with Real Butter! All we get here is margarine - yuck. Even restaurants use margarine with those pies. I heard the far south has the best Pecan Pies.
BTW I was so excited to get my super sale $79 Harbour Freight 3 ton low pro steel jack. Its in the garage now and it fits under the lowered Miata and its rail braces. No more wooden blocks! What smoked meats ? |

Cant tell if genuine or satire
|
I have to fly to Arizona on Wednesday... how bad is Canada that Arizona looks good?
That's a joke, calm down Arizonans. I've got family in British Columbia and can't wait to get back to visit them one of these days. |
My family farm in south Georgia has acres of pecan orchards. I've had some good pies.
|
There is a funny joke about the canadian snow. ;)

did you know delta has an honor guard?

No satire here, I had a genuinely good time in the states.
Every Canadian that's gone to BC loves it there, beautiful terrain and weather. What I can say that I notice that may offend y'all is that I'm no fan of cats. I just don't get the attraction ? Now a pet puma/mountain lion/cougar would be awesome....... BTW thanks for the support over the recent incidents in Ottawa, we all knew it was a matter of time but it's always a bit of a shock. |
