Your favorite drink?

After college, I spent two years working for Club Med in a bunch of their Caribbean villages. I got introduced to the wonderful world of rum and haven't looked back. Tonight I watched an hour of COPS and drank half a bottle of Sailor Jerry (better than Captain and not as bad a hangover).

My favorite rum: Barbancourt Estate Reserve (Haiti)

What's your favorite liquor, and how do you like it?

xturner 02-02-2007 09:34 PM

Wow! Another rum drinker!
My brother turned me on to Pyrat XO Reserve(Anguilla) - straight up. Amazing flavor, but it will kill your tomorrow dead.

2nd place is Absolut Citron on the rocks.

I like the liquor - shame to dilute it.

chuckerants 02-02-2007 09:50 PM

Beer. MMmmmm.

jayc72 02-02-2007 09:51 PM

Beer. Vodka and 7 with a lime twist.

Off to Mexico in just over a month, I expect to consume many gallons of beer and see many naked boobs.

scotch and water

hustler 02-02-2007 11:15 PM

I lift weights, so I very rarely drink. When I do, its typically makers and water. I was a wine steward for a couple years, so I have a soft spot for high end wine.

I think that drinking should be banned since more people are killed by drunk drivers than by firearms every year.

so take that you anti gun motherfuckers. :vash:

akaryrye 02-02-2007 11:54 PM

ive been a whiskey man for awhile now. As we speak I am sipping a whiskey/collins which is probably my favorite

Braineack 02-02-2007 11:54 PM

I shoot at the NRA headquarters. Guns are fun...so is drunk driving.

Anti-gun? You mistake me for one of the other token Canadians on the forum. Meh, I don't give a shit if you guys all own guns, Darwin WILL prevail. :sadwavey:

UofACATS 02-03-2007 12:57 AM

Carbombs out at the bar since it's entertaining.

Otherwise margaritas all the way.

savior 02-03-2007 01:22 AM

Jagerbombs and c16 gasoline

iluvtruenos 02-03-2007 03:08 AM

A wine spritzer with some cheese.

I drive an immaculately maintained 1997 M Edition, and my 90 has both sunvisors.

....yea fucking right.

Straight shots of vodka. If I'm drinking, chances are, I don't want to remember what happens.

kung fu jesus 02-03-2007 03:13 AM

single malt scotch. no water, just ice.

margarita are great, too.

at my last job, we did a lot of stuff for a company that was owned by the bacardi family. they always entained us we ent down there with some special reserve rum they don't sell, just keep it for themselves.

i'm surprised with this group no one has replied with "semen" yet as their favorite. :gay:

jayc72 02-03-2007 03:14 AM

Wine, semen pretty much the same thing.

How did you figure that one out was there alotof, taste testing?

I rarely drink but when i do i want it pure Bacardi/vodka dont matter either pure or with redbull. I can not drink alone i have tried, big waste. I am to paranoid to drink at bars cause i think the cops would get me on the 70 mile drive home from most bars i can go to. I dont have freinds who do partys. In this country you will be lucky to see me drinking, Germany on the other hand is different hell i can walk home most of the time there so all i gotta do is be able to stand and shuffle.

Mach929 02-03-2007 08:06 AM

another vote for rum here. used to drink a ton of vodka but for the past few years it's been rum. I usually end up drinking more beer though:beer:

y8s 02-03-2007 09:06 AM

i like a good potato vodka for mixed drinks.

a good strong anejo + cointreau + lime margarita, no salt. never jose.

hoppy or belgian style beers

and occasionally a nice smooth cabernet.

thepope540 02-03-2007 09:13 AM

I have recently been converted to a whiskey man. Current flavor of choice is Jameson.

Fritch 02-03-2007 09:40 AM

I like beer, I'm a simple and cheap man. Coors please.

but whiskey (decent or good) with redbull is pretty tasty

magnamx-5 02-03-2007 09:41 AM

Red bull is the shit i wish i was cheaper though :(

Me too, I'm a BV man though. Good flavor and cheap (hey I'm in college) usually mixed with coke and water.

ApexOnYou 02-03-2007 12:45 PM

Used to like jager bombs, but now am more of a strictly beer guy, thats where New Castle comes into play as my favorite beer.

Liquor for me only. Jager bombs and pineapple rum with oj are the two favorites.
No beer, wine, or champagne. Just can't acquire the taste for it.

Jefe 02-03-2007 06:39 PM

I'm banned from the Fav...JD & MT Dew...

When I fly a nice Gin & tonic...

But a case or two of Sam Adams will get me through the weekend...:)
Magic Hat #9 is pretty good as well :):)

tylerdurden 02-03-2007 06:51 PM

Mixed? G & T on a warm evening at the barbeque is damn near perfect. I generally don't like straight liquor because; A) I get wrecked in a fucking hurry, and B) 99% of it tastes like shit. I've had some expensive scotch (bought some for my best man) and it was not pleasant. Tasted like drinking a campfire. The best liquor I've had on taste alone was some banana rum from a really tiny distillery in Jamaica (like so small the label was hand painted). That was some good shit.

Beer? Blue Moon at the moment, I'd say. Don't like hoppy stuff, more malty and chocolate/rye flavors are my favorite, but it's unfortunately easy to stumble onto a coffee/bitter taste judging just by the color. Wheat beer is usually good too.

Wine? I prefer white for casual drinking over most reds, usually sweeter ones like Riesling or a good Gewurtz. Moscato's are interesting but usually kinda weak (under 10% ABV). I prefer wine in general since it relaxes my body more rather than stuffing my brain like liquor can easily do. Great for relaxing after work.

To be honest though my favorite wine, and what I prefer most of the time when I'm just drinking around the house looking for a relaxed buzz, is sweet vermouth. It's usually used as a mixer, but as an aperitif it's really damn good. A spicy, almost cinnamon taste with a caramel-ish finish. My wife loves it too, though most people I've made try it don't share our opinion. If you've never had it, give it a try. Most groceries have bottles for around $4, more if you go for Martini & Rossi, which doesn't taste any better. Plus it's cheap as fuck at Trader Joes. $4/L FTW! And it's technically a red so I can fool myself into thinking I'm drinking for my health! Also quite strong for wine (or any non-liquor, really) @ 16% ABV. Tastes great, cheap, and goes to my head after about half a glass.

After rereading my post I think I may have a problem. Ah well, fuck it all. :)

y8s 02-03-2007 07:38 PM

:bigtu::bigtu:for Blue Moon and Magic Hat #9

DC's not far from Vermont. I've had a few different magic hat beers... lets see.. jinx, 9, circus boy and some others I can't remember. check their website. they have a "where to find" thing.

best beer selection around is Whole Foods by far.
