Yours Truly GOING TO BAJA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
<------ Starting from pole in SSB race. Live broadcast of the race on SpeedcastTV starting at 11:25AM CST if you happen to be bored tomorrow around lunch time.
Tune in - the start should be a good laugh, I'll get eaten up and be P4 by turn one. Sorry, not running a miata, or even a Mazda product. There is a couple miatas in the SSB/SSC field though... Cheers, will try to do you gehs proud. |
well what are you running?
Dood that's an accomplishment- give yourself some cred:
Luke W., of Marysville, Ohio, drove his No. 79 HPD/BFGoodrich Tires/Alpinestars Honda Civic Si to a lap of 2:42.252 (88.751 mph), just 0.207-second ahead of Ralph Porter’s No. 32 Dryer & Reinbold BMW/Hoosier Tire BMW Z4 for the provisional pole in Showroom Stock B. |
2006 Civic Si coupe in a very non-racecar like Showroom Stock configuration.
The last time one of our Civics qualified P1 at Road America, the guy was in fifth place by the first corner. So I'm looking forward to that... |
congrats bro
Congrats, that's impressive. I hope that you will do a lot better than fifth by the first corner!
As long as you're in iVTEC when the green drops, you'll be fine....until the real cars start trying :lmao: But if you had TRUBO KITTY plastered on your car, everyone would be like "WTF? " and you would distract them to a first place finish....because they'd be afraid of TRUBO KITTAH!!
Seriously, good lucks to you!! |
Good luck Luke. Kick some ass!
Bad ass. I wish you luck.

I know what I'll be doing at 12:25 PM EDT; website not blocked.
This shit won't play on my phone.
Will be watching. Good luck Luke.
Haha. Luke has sticker tires... while he is masking up.
Ouch... not a good start.
Yea crazy first wreck
Luke is not in first. or 5th, or between. what did i miss?
Why did that BMW go back out?
Leaderboard shows Luke in first- nothing but the battle for SSB second getting covered.
It was stupid... and Luke is well in the lead, or was until this caution. But I bet it finishes under caution...
Maybe not, no caution. |
Mine is muted. That tiburon is a little OC, no?
Congrats Luke. Got the win.
Jesus, wow. Safety truck out on the track while racing was still going on. Good slip up, whoever was responsible for that shit. |
Yep- congrats Luke.
Oh yeah. Finished about 10 lengths ahead. Sweet baby jesus nice work!

I'd like to take some credit for this win. Had I not sold you my first miata so that you could race it and blow up the engine, you would have never gotten this civic to race.
Sweet victory! :) Well done sir! |
Luke is a total bauce.
Great job!
Congratulations. Showroom stock typically has some very well prepared cars with very quick drivers. I'd say more so that PT in NASA in many cases. So that's impressive. Well done sir!

Thanks for the kind words gehs...kind of a wierd race and honestly, the "directing" of the race was a bit of a mess. It should have been red flagged immediately after the first wreck, they sent out a pace car for the SSC class but not SSB so I had no idea what pace I was supposed to be doing. The restart was a mess, the red Z4 started 10s before anyone else.
And to top it all off, the end of the race was ludicrous. There was a stranded/wrecked car taking up the whole track after the kink and none of the other drivers were lifting or slowing down going past the incident. I was the first car to the wreck and slowed way down because they were waving the yellow furiously. I had to drive in the grass all the way to the wall to get by safely, and the mustangs behind me never lifted and went flying by this stranded car with a driver in it at 10/10ths going past in the grass. They cut my lead by like 80% because they never slowed for the crashed car so I went back to full speed and we did the whole shebang all over again a lap later. Very dangerous, and very disappointing that guys were willing to risk their lives and someone elses... Anyway, weird race, only 6 or 7 green flag laps (the laps are long at RA...) and probably boring to watch. Still hasn't really set in that I won the Runoffs, I haven't had any time to enjoy it or celebrate... Had to tear the car down in tech after the race and luckily I'm the lead mechanic on my car and we had very few crew. P.S. One of the contingencies for winning the Runoffs on BFGoodrich tires is a chance at a free all inclusive ride in the BAJA 1000. WHAAAATTT1!!?!??!?!?!? Pray to God, BAJA here i come!!!! P.S.S Will try to load video ASAP, unfortunately my rearview camera didn't work, and the front view is mostly boring as heck...but oh well |

Sweet victory! :) Well done sir! The car I bought from him was the first car I ever tracked and the car I learned to drive in. I put a lot of track miles on that car, many of which were boosted. I can't believe it took as much abuse as it did before letting go. |
Props are back - +1 for victory!

Just going to leave this right here...

Oh yeah, btw congrats!! I've never done any 4 wheeled off-road or desert racing. We'll be driving in some sort of spec buggy class. Info on the car here ---> The Car Tube frame buggy, 18" of suspension travel, 175hp N/A Subaru 4 cyl, 4spd MT It's no trophy truck, but you won't hear me complaining. |

I'll be getting on a plane in a few short hours to fly out to San Diego, then down to Ensenada for a week of BAJA pre-running. I'll try to take some video for you guys.
Also, SpeedcastTV has the race replay up for the SSB/SSC national championship race for anyone who's interested and missed it live. I think the current one is slightly edited, and it's available in "decent" quality. Can be seen here ----> SpeedcastTV Cheers and I hope I live through a week of BAJA practice... |
My boner has come here for you. Please have happy rape
Baja is a hoot, my cousins race and I've gone down to pit for them a few times. Enjoy it!
Quick update from Pre-running: BAJA is freaking crazy. This sh+t is 90% retarded crazy and 10% amazing.
Unfortunately we've had some reliability problems and generally each day has been a new sort of disaster. We killed a cow today... That it's all |
