Absolutely impressive car and lap. 180 and still pulling strong, street-legal on stock tires.

I'm always so impressed by the drivers in the Ring videos. That guy was so smooth, and you could tell from the engine note in a bunch of places that he was fighting for traction, but there wasn't any real drama. And the spot late in the video where he catches a slide at 100+ and then punches the wheel, like"shit, lost a couple tenths there." Absolutely pro.

Absolutely impressive imo.

The queens at Car & Driver will still rate the new Datsun higher. They are so gay for the skyline it's sick. "Sure the vette's faster, but this Datsun is so much easier to drive fast"....

Fast car with a clutch pedal and gear shift! Thank God it's not some paddle shifting manumatic.

And you wont have to take it in for inspection!

or your 20k maintanence plan...

johndoe 07-11-2008 10:22 PM

The concentration that takes...wow. What's the fastest stock production car to do a lap there?

budget racer 07-11-2008 10:33 PM

i officially take back every bad thing a have ever said about corvettes.

hustler 07-11-2008 10:54 PM

And before that, you won't have to ask the manufacturer's permission to drive it fast!

I bet you could even put aftermarket wheels on it without jumping through hoops. ;)

UrbanSoot 07-12-2008 01:52 PM

i started saving up for one.

Fireindc 07-12-2008 02:19 PM

Lol, personally id just as well take a c6 z06. While id rather have the zr1, it is quite a bit more. Saw a zo6 with intake/exhaust at the track just about breaking into 11's.

I ran into a guy last week that snatched up one of the first base model C6s here. $5900 later it has a 6psi Garrett T66 and puts down over 650rwhp..

Thats the way to go, IMHO.

bryantaylor 07-12-2008 05:02 PM

Agreed. There was a show on Speed a few nights ago where they built a TT c6 for the ArmorAll giveaway...awesome deal and way cheaper than a ZR-1.

naarleven 07-12-2008 10:44 PM

I still stand unimpressed. You can go faster with less power. I guess i've never got the brute force approach.

I'd rather have the 6:55 Radical SR8 360 PS/650 kg

Braineack 07-12-2008 11:41 PM

Jim Mero isn't even a professional race car driver, iirc.

naarleven 07-12-2008 11:50 PM

Wow, looked him up. Apparently hes a development engineer.
