Laman Designs Services
Hello everyone,
I am pleased to be one of the vendors on the MiataTurbo.net and hoping that my services can help some of you. As I had mentioned in my intro thread I have been around here since 2005 (as bcrx7). I have been racing, wrenching, tuning, wiring, and doing fabrication/design for over 15 years both as hubby and work. I decided to start my own company over a year and a half ago to combine all of the above to provide a great and unique service to customers. I have electrical and mechanical engineering background which is really beneficial to my hands-on work. This is starting to sound like a cover letter for a job; now to the fun stuff! The following is the services that Laman Designs is currently providing that could potentially be beneficial to some of you: - Design: Be it a simple bracket or a bespoke (fancy word) spindle, if it can be thought, we can put it in CAD (2D and 3D). I am proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, and Fusion 360, oh and of course pen and paper! - 3D Printing: We can provide in-house 3D printing of ABS, Nylon, PLA, and similar at sizes of about 10x10x10 (inches). In addition if you want to really get fancy, we do have partners that can do much bigger pieces in everything including metals (PRICEY). - 3D Scanning: This will most likely not going to be as popular here as we are not currently in a position to travel for this service (well unless there is much mule involved!) However if there is something that you like to have a 3D Cad file of that is very difficult to get accurate or a broken one-off that need replicated, you can always send it through a courier! - Fabrication: General fabrication of products in all sorts of metals, wood, paper mache, crayons! - Welding: In-house capability of welding metals using MIG and TIG processes. - CNC: In-house capability of milling and routing all sorts of metals, wood, composites, plastics (two CNC mills, the bigger has travel of 40"x26" and one CNC router with 30"x30" travel). In the next month or so getting a CNC plasma @ 10ft x 5ft. We are not a high production shop at the moment. So the best would be either one-off/prototype parts and/or smaller group-buys. However if anyone wants a larger run of the same product (say over 25 pcs.), we do have many local partners that can help. One of the current designs related to the BP engine is a CNC milled dry-sump oil pan with external pump mount. We are moving a larger shop at the beginning of November and expecting to have the first prototype of the dry-sump pan ready by Christmas! Looking forward to helping the fellow Miata and car enthusiasts and hoping to make some cool parts together! |
I am going to need a stronger transmission then the 6 speed, but feels as good as the 5 speed, with perfect gear ratios, for less then $1000. Think you guys can make it happen?
Awesome for signing up. I might get you to price out some small things for me in the near future. |

This is perhaps a good read to understand the idea: http://cncmachinisttraining.com/2013...e-hourly-rate/ |
