Changing the Cranking Ignition Angle

Some engines start a bit better when ignition is kept near 0* BTDC while cranking. Unfortunately the LinkECU doesn't have a dedicated cranking advance setting, and uses the idle ignition target (when enabled) for the cranking advance. If idle ignition isn't enabled, then it uses the spark table. In the newer firmwares, idle ignition can be configured to use a 2D table instead of a single value, and we can use this to set a cranking advance. This can also be used to reduce starter kickback if that's an issue.

To configure this, go to your Idle Speed Control Settings > Idle Ignition Control > Idle Ignition Control and change Target Mode from Single to Table. Then Idle Ignition Table becomes available and you can change the axis to anything you like. What I've found to work well is to use the Idle Status runtime to decide if the engine is cranking or running.

There are a total of 16 states for idle, but anything over 0 we can treat the same for this setup. To find what each status means for any engine runtime, you can go to the CAN Setup screen > Test Calculator tab and select the runtime in question. This screen will show you all possible status codes and their meaning.
