Default Gear Shift Control Settings in G4X - Flatshifting

@SimBa started posting about Gear Shift control in his build thread and figured it would be good to have a dedicated thread with settings people have used for different scenarios.

I propose we use the following format, but let me know your thoughts:

Aspiration: Naturally Aspirated
Catalyst: Yes
Drivetrain: NB 5 speed + 4.3 Torsen
Cut type: Fuel Cut
Ignition trim: yes, -10*
Usage: Time Attack, HPDE, Autocross

@SimBa you're up.

Cut type: Spark Cut
Ignition trim: -10*
Usage: Terrorizing nearby traffic and keeping property values in check

I'll post actual settings tomorrow. I'm definitely interested in trying to dial in settings to make it usable. I thought it was OK in low boost but the massive bang I heard today on the way to tennis confirmed that was not the case.

Yesterday I figured out that removing the Dog Unload portion of the shift (done by setting the Dog Unload Duration to all 0's) will remove the large gunshots/explosions that I was getting previously, even if ignition cut/retard is still used for the shift.

The settings below are largely what I was testing yesterday with a few exceptions.
  • I have now set the speed lockout to 0 to disable it. I'm assuming that lockout is designed more for sequential and/or dog boxes.
  • I lowered the Upshift TPS lockout from 70% to 60%. Really 70% should be plenty
  • I disabled the End of Gears Lockout. I doubt it would actually happen, but I could see wheel spin causing the ECU to think it's in the wrong gear and lock out a shift. Also doesn't seem applicable to an h-pattern, so away it goes.
Largely these are just the default settings. They seem to be working well for me. I don't get any crazy pops/bangs now, but did hear one or two more mild backfires when testing. Those were not consistent though.

I also mentioned in my build thread that I had one shift that that the ECU ended early and ended up hitting limiter on the shift. I can't tell what caused that from the logs (at least with my eyes). I'll keep an eye out for that in the future and update if I figure anything out. It would be nice if there was a minimum shift duration setting to prevent that from happening, but it doesn't seem necessary on a properly working setup so I'm not surprised it doesn't exist.

ETA - Here are the gear detection values I'm using for the 6 speed

As redusidae has mentioned in my build thread, it's worth turning up the logging frequency on the clutch switch (I think I went to 1000 Hz) to make sure it's not bouncing. After a handful of missed shifts, resulting in hitting redline and grinding gears I updated my logging parameters today and found that my clutch switch is indeed bouncing.

Keep in mind that these are two non-aggressive shifts in a ~10 minute drive home from the grocery store. I didn't have to look too hard to find examples of the signal bouncing. Increasing the validation time on the shifts would likely help with this, but I think I'm going to try cleaning the switch first, as I'd rather not have too much delay before the shift cut engages.
