MX5Link tune

2 Attachment(s)
Here's my tune and a random data log from my commute home, mainly to check if Link file types are now uploading to MT.net. Feel free to download and inspect.

But for anyone who's interested, I have ID1050x, VVT, fuel/oil pressure, oil temp, flex sensor but it's not doing anything beyond monitoring, 4d fueling changing AFR target and WUE is zeroed, gear working with a NB cam sensor mounted to my RR wheel, and a bunch of other stuff. Try at your own risk.

This is great @curly . Thank you for sharing. I've been wondering if my VVT calibration or mechanical timing were off after seeing another VVT MX5 tune with wildly different numbers (like 200 degrees different). Seeing your calibration is near the same as mine puts my mind at ease.

It's very interesting how you don't use acceleration enrichment at operating temps, and no wall wetting either. Does you car not need it?

curly Nov 19, 2024 09:40 PM

Because...I have not looked at that.

It behaves amazing when warm, unsure if I need any. What's ironic, is I base all my customer tunes off mine, so they don't have it either. :fael:

How much do you run when warm? Also where's the wall wetting, I haven't even looked for it on a Link.

I've wondered if acceleration enrichment was really needed on a car with injectors in the stock location. The wall wetting is in the Fuel Main menu at the the bottom. It's a simple setup in the Link but seems to work for me at 25%, but honestly hard to tell the difference. I wish the manual explained it more than just 3 sentences.

These are the settings I use, with the caveat that my injectors are a couple of inches up the runners, and the reason I use a 3D table for the Accel Sens is that my TPS has noise around 15-20%. The Mass of Fuel mode is only available in the latest firmwares:

I will also say that off idle response isn't the greatest on a big stab until the runners gets some heat in. It's perfect after 1500RPM or so at all temperatures. The life of the ITBs I guess, but I'm open to ideas of things to try and improve the cold response.

Oh it's just a single setting, ok. Maybe I'll mess around with that and accel enrich when the weather's nicer. A lot of atmospheric rivers and bomb cyclones lately. Throttle response and big boost aren't my priorities, heated seats and abs of the daily are!

Haha I understand. The weather hasn’t been the nicest for miata activities here either. Interested to know what you find, or if it’s even noticeable. I know my car doesn’t feel as snappy without one or the other.

Curly, thanks a ton for posting this! As I've been poking around and turning on more corrections/features it's been really handy to compare to your tune as a sanity check.

Glad it's helping. I should note that I need to work on my long term lambda settings. Seems to work in steady state driving, but I need to mess with my TPS/MAP delta lockouts so it doesn't trying to correct during shifts. If you start hearing some bangs on shifts, that's probably an indication that it's maxed the long term table out there...

redursidae Nov 28, 2024 10:32 AM

I had a struggle with the lambda corrections on shifts as well. In the latest firmware they added a low MAP lockout that fixed it all for me.

Yeah mines at 0psi, looking at a recent log, looks like that needs to be more like 3-4psi. I use MGP for all of my tables, MAP settings really throw me off!
