13.523 1/4 mile....All motor
And that was the first pass of the night. That beats the Fuji Racing time of a 13.55 in the quarter mile.
But the night got better. The next pass went a 13.485 at 99.06 mph The next pass went a 13.389 at 99.70 mph After that, it seemed to stay in the 13.40's. I started to mess with the jetting, and the mph went down, so I thought I would call it a night and regroup before I start to tackle the jetting. Sixshooter was there to witness the action. He took pics of 2 of the timeslips. That is half of a second and 3.5 mph improvement from when I was running the 95 head and stock water pump. The best 60' time, was a 1.80 with consistant 1.81's. Is that the fastest normally aspirated bp powered miata in the quarter mile? Who knows, this post may pull some out of the shadows, but I am cracking open the victory beer.:D |
Bad. Ass.
I'm going to give you an unofficial congratulations. |
Thank you Gospeed. It has been quite a journey so far. Next stop is in the 12's with a little work.
|
thats pretty sweet for na man, congrats
|
God damn your pullin the same times as me! But I have like 3 or 4 mph on you so your hooking a lot better than I am. Nice job.
|
I hate your guts, but seriously, those times kick ass hardcore.
|
Uhhhhh... damn
What tires and wheels are you running? |
nitrous? lol
|
NICE! Complete motor specs please? n20 or any power adders?
|
There are no power adders. Nitrous will come later.
The bottom end has JE 12:1 compression, total seal gapless rings, stock polished rods, and stock crank. The power is in the cylinder head and induction. Ported 99 with Flyin Miata valve springs, 1mm over valves, shim under bucket lifters. I am running twin 45 DCOE Weber carbs with 40 mm chokes. Camshaft is just a bit bigger than a stock 99. 214* at .050" lift, and max lift of .370". Car has been on a rigourous diet, but the exterior and interior appears stock. I have not weighed it yet. Tires are 22x8x15 Mickey Thompson slicks on the back, and 22x3.5x15 (maybe 22x4x15 can't remember) on the front. Wheels are 15x7 back, and 15x4 front from Bogart Racing. One last thing. Last night, I was running pump gas. I will likely tune it with race gas eventually. |
What clutch and rearend

The rear end is a 4.44:1 with a welded carrier. |
You are the ****** Emperor and I am awed.
How do you launch? Do you have enough power to spin the MTs at launch or do they just bite and go? |
Wow. Do you have details on your lightness adding, I'm interested? This is probably 90% driver, I'm thinking.
|
I come out at about 6500 to 6700 rpm. Sometimes higher. If not, the tires bite to hard and the car bogs. It takes a little practice to get it right.
If the tires bite to hard, I will increase the tire preasure. |

Anything cosmetic was not touched. I wanted it to appear stock, and I still have stock seats. I did pull the passenger side to make the pass last night. It is such an easy thing to do, that it is worth doing for track nights. I jacked up the car and got under it and just stared. Eventually I see things that I know I can live without. There are so many brackets and shit in the engine bay, that it is ridiculous. The car also started out as a base model, so it was pretty light to start with. |
Go on a diet and hit the gym.
And drink Citrucell on Friday mornings. |
How do you get off your clutch? Slip or sidestep it?
|
this thread is worthless without pics and vids!

I see a decent amount of cheap power to be unlocked in an exhintake swap and adjustable camgears.

Now with pics and timeslips!!!

Sorry it took so long to get these on here. Work sometimes gets in the way of play.
Troy's Miata winds up quick and launches strong. It's really fun to watch and sounds really frenzied and pissed off when it leaves. I'm glad I was there to see him break Fuji's record. Here's the car: Attachment 198833 Attachment 198834 And the driver! No, he doesn't need to go to the gym to go faster. Attachment 198835 The launch on the first pass of the night: Attachment 198836 The accompanying time slip: Attachment 198837 The next time up: Attachment 198838 Lining up for the third run: Attachment 198839 Third time's a charm: Attachment 198840 Haters can hate, but he was faster than some turbo cars out there on his dual sidedraft carburetors. Sorry the pics are so bad. All I had with me was a very old point and shoot camera that lives in my truck. And for reference, I looked up published quarter mile times for a whole list of cars. He is faster than all C4 Corvettes but the ZR-1, base C5 Corvettes, all Z-28 Camaros and Trans Ams ever built, all Mustang 5.0s, Audi A4 turbos, and all non-M BMWs and most M BMWs that were on the list. For reference: http://www.exoticcarsite.com/0-60-qu...mile-times.htm Good job, Troy! Edit: And so you know, a lot of it is the driver. He's very in tune with what he's doing. And his gear shifting is ridiculously fast when you hear it trackside. He's good. |

ahh slicks ftw ty i dunno how i glossed over that.
|
Thanks Steve. It was a good time.
|
Congrats man. It's great to see a fellow n/a guy throw down those kind of numbers. Really gives me some motivation!
|
no ecu huh, guessing you jammed a distribtor back there? would love to see a dyno graph and weight figure. as said before probably a lot of driver skill here
|
HAts off to you man that is bad.ass.
|
Video? I want to here this thing!
|
I wish my pictures weren't so bad. It looks like the rear end squatted about an inch and a half and the front end came up an inch or more when you launched in one picture. That is judging from the top of the tire to the fender.
I only bring this up because you were talking about limiting rear suspension travel during your launch when we were out there. |

Awesome numbers man. Very impressive.
|
Very nice!
