Atlanta People.... April 5th meet.

Well, the response was good, the location worked out perfect... so let's do it again!

Meet at 4PM until whenever. I think we were there 2-3 hours last time.

Mellow Mushroom
3070 Windward Parkway
Windward Plaza Suite A
Alpharetta, GA 30005

Come one, come all. There is tons of parking, we won't get run off, good pizza, good beer... sweet.

Maybe this time we can check out the frozen yogurt place. Should be a lot warmer even though weather was great last time too.

After this one, we can talk about alternating with another location just to switch things up if we can find one, but for now, this works great.

Ben 03-17-2008 12:59 PM

That location is good. Good parking lot, easy to get to, etc.
But I'm honestly not diggin on MM again. I don't like Pizza (I know that it's unusual). Want to do one of the other restaurants in that same parking lot?

Failing that, we can eat on the patio and I'll step over to the sandwich shop next door. :giggle:

kotomile 03-17-2008 03:35 PM

lol, I've been to several MMs and have yet to order any pizza :)

Avacado hoagie on wheat is the only way.

Ben 03-17-2008 03:38 PM

Hey man, why don't you drive up? It's only 2 hours.

Atlanta93LE 03-17-2008 03:43 PM

Wife may be out of town that day...which would be nice ;)

Kind of crappy for a group drive. I like going north, where it gets hilly and twisty.

Doppelgänger 03-17-2008 05:23 PM

Oh and next meet we'll bring the tripod for better pics lol

Stealth97 03-17-2008 05:37 PM

and I'll actually use my camera that was chillin in the glove. haha Just help me keep foo and his laptop away from my MS :giggle:

Atlanta93LE 03-17-2008 06:14 PM

Stealth, you're in Woodstock? I'm not far from you then...Marietta, east of 75

Ben 03-17-2008 07:12 PM

Better keep me away then, too. That was my idea, after all.

But FWIW, do you know of anyone else who carries a multi purpose butane torch in their trunk? :giggle:

Stealth97 03-17-2008 08:29 PM

ehh, I really did not know whose idea that was :inout:

yeah that was quite gangster... despite the quickie job with a cold soldering iron it is still holding up fine, tape and all... I'll get off my ass one day and fix it right. The car did the same crap the next day BTW, there was a wiring issue at the ECU as well, for the AIT.

You know, I just might. I just fired off my injectors to witchhunter so like, wanna help me squirt after the meet?

pdt602 03-19-2008 12:30 AM

I'm in, so is it MM or somewhere else?

Ben 03-19-2008 07:41 AM

If there's time... It's not like it's hard or time consuming tho...

kotomile 03-19-2008 07:44 PM

I know, I just "feel better" having someone help who's done it before. I'm sure I could handle it by reading TFM, but.. this would be like faster n stuff.

I'm in tho, and bringing a friend.

RotorNutFD3S 03-19-2008 08:09 PM

Can't say yes or no for sure at the moment. But I am interested in making it this time around. No sudden trips to Athens that I know of ATM. lol

Doppelgänger 03-24-2008 09:06 AM

Yes, meet is still planned for MM. If some of you guys want to do some work on the cars, we can go back to my place and work on the cars/shoot some pool/ drink some more beers lol

m2cupcar 03-24-2008 09:21 AM

You mean like drop a front subframe and fix a leaking oil pan? ;)

Count me in. :bigtu:

Atlanta93LE 03-24-2008 09:59 AM

Or fix my damned no-starts? ;)

m2cupcar 03-24-2008 10:02 AM

I thought you had a "work-around". :D

Atlanta93LE 03-24-2008 10:07 AM

I still haven't managed to get PalmEdit tweaked to edit cranking settings... :vash: Gimme an hour...

Ben 03-24-2008 10:17 AM

*cough* you have a laptop

I ended up only using my Palm once. I think it's in the glovebox. Maybe :dunno:

Atlanta93LE 03-24-2008 11:11 AM

*cough* it's even more busted than last you saw it. I'm not going to carry it with me everywhere I go until my cranking PWs are set.

you're laptop? How much of a laptop is needed?

Atlanta93LE 03-24-2008 11:37 AM

I should stop threadjacking...but my laptop is nearly useless at tuning now. The lid doesn't stay open, it takes nearly an hour to fire up, and I can't see the darn thing with any sort of light. I'm looking into getting a new one, but money is an issue (as always). I'm thinking of picking up an old Toshiba Libretto for tuning.

Doppelgänger 03-24-2008 01:03 PM

Then buy a laptop from me lol. Ask Ben... he knows i got the right deals lol

kotomile 03-24-2008 01:11 PM

Sheisse, that reminds me, my lap needs a new power supply.

Doppelgänger 03-24-2008 03:16 PM

what kind is it? I have ps's for most HP/Compaq/Dell and some Toshiba.

Atlanta93LE 04-03-2008 07:20 AM

So what's the skinny? There's been a lot of talk about the 5th...what's the "schedule of events;" anybody actually meeting before/after MM?

Ben 04-03-2008 07:49 AM

kotomile should be stopping by my place to install his MS and detail cars. There will probably also be some time to blast through some of the back roads near me. You're welcome to come by... if so, I'll probably pick up a (mini) keg to make sure we're all good and refreshed. Oh, and I got an LM1 if you want to compare your WB against another.

Atlanta93LE 04-03-2008 08:36 AM

Saturday is car day for me, so I'll swing by (assuming weather isn't too bad). PM me your address again...I think I lost it in my move.

Dell 5100, (square connector) though I might try to borrow a friend's laptop for the MS install.

Doppelgänger 04-03-2008 11:21 AM

Koto - i have one of those. I'll bring it to the meet. Or i can drop it off with Ben after work today and he'll have it when you get to his house.

All i know is im going to a meet in the morning, dyno'ing over at DL around lunch and then heading up to MM ~4

Ben 04-03-2008 11:25 AM

Mike--Sweet, drop it off by me, or maybe I can meet you for lunch today. Like at that Taco Bell right up by your house. :)

Stealth97 04-03-2008 12:21 PM

I will most likely be there pimping my stock ECU and 120hp like a mofo

m2cupcar 04-03-2008 01:07 PM

LOL, the neighbors will love it!! :fawk:
I'll pick up some brewskies and some meat to grill for lunch. Time permitting, I'll get some Ribeyes from CostCo (they're the best I've found locally by far). MMMMMM.

Koto, Mike dropped a power supply for you.

Ben

m2cupcar 04-03-2008 02:35 PM

I was kidding- you've got koto's car to play with anyway. But I figured once that's done we could shoot some vids of the cars rolling - I got one of those cheapie cams.

m2cupcar 04-04-2008 09:43 PM

damn - forecast sux now. Rain all day. :vash:

Ben

Dropped? Meaning one's coming my way or..? I just borrowed a friend's laptop, and just dl'd and installed the software from DIY!

I'm running through last minute trying to tie up the loose ends before heading out. I'll need to stop somewhere and get some vacuum line for the MAP, also, what sort of filter can I use for the idle valve? I'm thinking one of those little foam jobs for a carb on a small-displacement engine?

Ben 04-05-2008 07:51 AM

oh, your throttle pipe doesn't have a joint for it?

I've got your power supply here at my house. Not that you'll see this before you get here anyway. :giggle:

Doppelgänger 04-06-2008 02:53 AM

WTF did you guys go? At least expected Ben to show up. We had 11 cars this time. Not bad.

Atlanta93LE 04-06-2008 07:42 AM

My car wasn't running so well, and the idea of tinkering on the side of the road in the rain didn't make me warm and fuzzy inside. Hopefully weather is better next time.

m2cupcar 04-06-2008 08:25 AM

Got a late start on Koto's car and it just to longer than expected (I'll let Koto fill in the details). But it started up perfectly a little after 8pm. :bigtu: When I left they were talking about installing injectors. :D

Ben 04-06-2008 09:47 AM

The rain cost us a lot of time, and then Koto's MS was not very happy. Eventually, it all did come together though.

See you bitches next time I suppose.

We would've loved to come, but we ran into some issues with the squirt install. Next time fo sho.

Yup, we didn't expect to run into problems flashing the firmware in, plus dealing with vista = :bang:. For the longest time we sat in disbelief at the fact that there was NO fuel pump and NO spark (despite jumping the FP in the diag, which M2CC discovered we did wrong later), and the ignitors were getting crazy hot! So after Ben convinced us to give loading the firmware a third chance... viola! It got fuel and spark and wanted to start, but timing was off. Ben plugged in a WAG and it fired up! Then you know, timing, injectors, yada yada, went for a drive, ended up leaving around what, 3 or 4? :bowrofl: I'm sure I must've left something out..

Thanks a BUNCH to Ben and M2cupcar for their help and combined subject matter expertise, and to foundsoul for the advice over the phone! :)

Ben 04-07-2008 10:34 AM

koto,
please show a few pics of how BALLER your intake and IAC pipes came out.

Sure thing! Ben and M2 are wizards btw, the old VC breather filter became the IAC filter, and the old coldside pipe became my new intake.. :skid:

https://www.miataturbo.net/gallery/f..._underhood.jpg

I redid a couple things, I'll take a pic later. New filter (had one), heatshielding on breather hose, some insulation on the AFM plug, etc.
