Chicago Dyno Day

I'm in the process of setting up a dynoday with RC Autoworks in Bridgview. Got the ok from Bob the owner, just need to figure out dates(so far we're thinking the 8th of Nov) and cost. Already have about 10 cars for the minimum on facebook. Price will probably be $60-$70 for 3 pulls. Should be a nice day to hangout at the shop and grill some food while showing Honda people our 100hp balls!

I made the page form the midwest miatas facebook group. If you don't like facebook etc just comment or message me here and I'll make sure to keep this updated with any changes.

In if the MX6 survives GRM $2014.

I'm not on facespace.

Mazduh 09-29-2014 03:27 PM

You're gonna drive up this way? Dope. I'll add you to the list.

concealer404 09-29-2014 03:31 PM

It's only 3 hours. I can do a day trip for some fun and such. Car will need to be dyno'd anyways, and won't have time before the challenge i don't think. :)

dieselmiata 09-29-2014 03:47 PM

I'm in. I went to the one last year and am now throwing down double the boost I was then. Curious to see how much that translates to on the dyno.

Mazduh 09-29-2014 04:02 PM

It's a 2wd Dynojet just fyi. Ill add you to the list aaron.

concealer404 09-29-2014 04:03 PM

Yay! Disneyjet! It's gonna make me look good!

dieselmiata 09-29-2014 04:05 PM

Cool. J.C and Adam are coming, and Adam intends to bring the FD.

Mazduh 09-29-2014 04:06 PM

Looks like it's likely gonna be Nov. 8th. I have to confirm with the owner still to lock it in.

12 people so far:

1) Phil Miecz
2) Darnel Brown
3) Kevin Horecky
4) Nick Bisioulis
5) Adrian Dachowski
6) Scott Tegtmeyer
7) Aric Miller
8) JC Garcia
9) Anthony Harry Ramsaran

Which JC? Can you give me their names/screennames? I'll add them to the list.

dieselmiata 09-29-2014 04:07 PM

Adam Britton and J.C Garcia. I'm not 100% sure either will be dynoing but they will be coming.

I know those assholes!

Mazduh 09-29-2014 04:10 PM

Ok I knew JC, wsn't sure he was the same person. I'll message him to confirm. I'll add adam to the list.

flying_solo 09-29-2014 04:14 PM

Just don't make fun of my FD when it makes stock power mkay? It hurt a little last year when all those miatas put down more than my RX8.

Mazduh 09-29-2014 04:35 PM

Hahahaaha... Wasn't it like 164hp or something?

185 HP and it looked good doing it!

dieselmiata 09-29-2014 07:36 PM

And 50 lbs of torque too!

2manyhobyz 09-29-2014 11:59 PM

Cool, count me in. It will be interesting to see what the twin scroll can do.

Anybody got det-cans made??

-Jeff

Mazduh 09-30-2014 02:58 PM

Can you guy's who don't have facebook send me your full names so I can add you to the list?

So far we have 14 people who have said they want to purchase dyno time. I talked with Bob the owner and he wants a prepayed deposit so we know for sure people are coming since he is setting aside a Saturday for us. It will likely be through paypal or by phone/email. I will post more info when I have it.

Pricing will be their normal rate if you show up and did not prepay. Only prepaid people will get the group discount.

$80 for 3 pulls. (normal rate)
$70 for 3 pulls. (Group rate 10 cars prepaid)
The price goes down the more cars we get.
This pricing is subject to change and is not final but what Bob and I talked about. Pricing will be final once we set up the prepayment method(most likely paypal)

Full_Tilt_Boogie 09-30-2014 03:00 PM

The guys at RC autoworks are pretty cool. Theyre one of the big supporters of the Honda D series community over at d-series.org.

Yeah they are! One of my best friends James is a tech there and I know Brandon and Bob through just showing up and hanging out there. Very cool shop and thy know their stuff with Hondas. I'm probably going to have them build my motor for me in the future since I'm entirely too lazy to do so myself. I see a lot of the work that goes through there and it's all quality stuff. I see a lot of subarus and nissans up there too. I've talked to Bob briefly on it before but he said he'd love to get more Mazda's up there. I kinda want the miata crowd to come out in force for the dyno day and prove we use all 100 horse powers!

dieselmiata 09-30-2014 03:41 PM

Only 100? I'm hoping I see 200 this time around!

Mazduh 09-30-2014 04:42 PM

Xpost from Miata.net with latest relevant info.

Hello all,

I've set up with Bob Reese, the shop owner over at RC Autoworks in Bridgeview IL, a dyno day on their DynoJet.

I have an event page created on Facebook as the main source of information here: https://www.facebook.com/events/845950922106460

You may need to be a member of the midwest miatas facebook group in order to see the event, if that's the case just message me here and I'll get you all set up and added.

If you'd rather not deal with facebook, you may message me here or reach my email at philmize89@gmail.com and I will make sure to include you in our discount prepaid list. You may also call the shop and ask Bob for more information.

The event is scheduled so far for Nov. 8th at 11am. It is a Saturday and I plan on bringing a small grill so we all can hang out and make some food while people hit the dyno.

The date and time are not yet finalized and are subject to change.

I've worked with Bob to get discounted pricing, the regular rate is $80 for 3 pulls. 10 or more cars who prepay, will get a discounted rate as we get more people. So if 10 people reserve a spot, it goes down to $70 for 3 pulls and 20 or more it goes down to $60. The goal is to get at least 20 cars on the dyno. That would put it at $60 for 3 pulls.

In order to receive the discount, you need to prepay and lock in your spot beforehand. If you show up without prepaying you will be charged the normal rate.
All payments taken are non-refundable.

If you want to attend but not run, you are welcome.

I will keep this post updated as we work out more details and finalize everything.

I currently have a running list of about 15 potential cars seeing dyno time.

Chiburbian 09-30-2014 05:41 PM

What is their rate for an hour of dyno time? I may want to see what they can do tuning wise on my car. I imagine this would take place AFTER everyone has done their pulls?

Im not sure but I think we're going to avoid tuning time since to do it right it takes time. You'd need to contact Bob directly and see what he wants to do. Also he needs to make sure Brandon the in house tuner is available etc.

Mazduh 10-08-2014 11:08 PM

Ok, for those of you wanting actual dyno time. To be in on the group buy, you need to prepay via paypal. If you do not have a paypal, Robert said you may call the shop and pay over phone, but prefers to work through paypal if possible.

RCAutoworks@gmail.com is their paypal. Please send $70 and in the comment box provide your full name and what make/model/color your car is. Their phone number is: (708) 599-5884 (ALL TRANSACTIONS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE)

If we get more than 20 cars pre-payed well refund the $10.

Bob also asks to make sure your car is stable to get on the dyno and not leaking any sort of fluids or anything. For the $70 you will get 3 pulls.

Mazduh 10-10-2014 11:11 AM

Bump! Don't forget to prepay!

KMiata 10-10-2014 07:49 PM

I'm going to try to stop by with the K24 car if all goes according to plan, although probably won't bother to put it on the dyno.

AdrianD2 10-10-2014 10:37 PM

Triple DIGIIIITS!!! Just for fun for me, and to hang out with the fellows.

Justin case 10-12-2014 07:56 PM

I wish I could go just to see everyone's car's. I work that day,and happen to work in bridgeview. Honestly I'm close enough to it that If anyone's car is loud enough I may hear it. Maybe I would stop by on my lunch to spectate.

dieselmiata 10-13-2014 09:27 AM

I'm paid in. Hopefully my diff doesn't die between now and then.

concealer404 10-13-2014 12:00 PM

I'm out for dyno pulls. Car that i was going to do pulls with suffered a crippling electrical failure on Saturday. I'm reasonably sure it'll run just fine, but it's completely unsafe to drive, so i won't even be able to break in the motor/clutch.

May still come out to watch. With this car being down, i don't have anything on my plate for a couple months other than trying to find a winter beater.

Chiburbian 10-13-2014 02:08 PM

Describe crippling electrical failure? Open new thread?

concealer404 10-13-2014 02:16 PM

It's not going to be E-Diagnosis friendly, trust me.

dieselmiata 10-13-2014 02:35 PM

Can't bring Swank Force One out for a show and tell?

concealer404 10-13-2014 02:37 PM

The problem IS Swank Force One (Pulled out of GRM $2014 on Saturday). I wasn't going to waste my time dyno-ing yet another BP car.

If i come to spectate, which i will absolutely try to do because it'd be awesome to meet you dudes, it'll be in the 2554 Of Doom.

dieselmiata 10-13-2014 02:42 PM

The 2554 of Doom? Sounds like a whole world of fun!

concealer404 10-13-2014 02:45 PM

I'm already dreading the ride up there on the horrible condition highways! :giggle:

dieselmiata 10-13-2014 02:58 PM

Think of it as an operational test of your suspension components. Or a game of dodgehole!

concealer404 10-13-2014 03:38 PM

Stock original suspension, so it'll be a game to see how much camber i have from the impacts by the time i get up there. :giggle:

stick 10-21-2014 01:15 PM

I should be there with the green machine. Im not sure if im dynoing though I just got off like last week. keep posting and promoting I hope to have as good a turnout as last year

Mazduh 10-21-2014 01:48 PM

I have a few different cars prepayed. We should have at least 10 people locked in. I need to double check with Bob.

Adam Jabaay might bring his red ef out for funsies...

stick 11-05-2014 08:32 AM

we must advertise guys!

2manyhobyz 11-09-2014 10:38 PM

Hey, how'd it go? Any pics/videos? Sorry I couldn't make it, I had a scheduling conflict. Fuelfed had their annual event called "THE FINAL DRIVE".

https://fuelfed.wordpress.com/

Who came out on top for horse power?
Cheers,

-Jeff

Mazduh 11-10-2014 09:13 AM

The event went very well. We had 18 cars! Not all miatas, but still very successful. I think I was the second highest at 194hp and 197tq @ 11psi and the dyno reads 10% low. One other guy had a white NA from Gurnee had a FM2 setup pretty much with a MS and made like 230ish hp. We had an ongoing battle between 4-5 miatas for 100ish hp.

There's quite a few pics on Facebook. I'll see if I can post some shortly.

Chiburbian 11-10-2014 09:44 AM

I'm upset I didn't get my car on the dyno... I am also upset my car hasn't been on the road in a month or more.

Further, I am upset that I got my emissions testing letter in the mail Saturday with a due date of February when I am sure the car will still be in storage...

All that aside, it was great seeing everyone at the dyno day. I wish I could have stayed the full day. I will definately budget for a full day next time. Is this something we plan on doing only yearly or will we do a spring event as well?

littl upset i only made 101.for some reason i cant post pics

dieselmiata 11-10-2014 11:13 AM

I matched Phil at 194 HP but only had 179 torque. Not bad considering I'm running the factory exhaust!

And just in case you wondered what a silent exhaust dyno pull sounds like.

Schadenfreude 11-10-2014 11:41 AM

Awesome ass day. Met a ton of new people and got super inspired. I feel like we should do a monthly meet similar to KINOD. Let's do it Phil!

Some girl called my car cute while on the dyno. I was like WTF it's not a damn miata women!

Raise your hands bitches, how many of you crapped yourself when ignition cut kicked in on the first pull?

flying_solo 11-10-2014 04:28 PM

And I had a great time Phil, you event well.

I was ready for it. But then again, I was also the one who discovered that it does that. :dealwithit:

Indeed and next test is trying the 2step ... at shadyface's house so his neighbors hate him instead of mine.
