Chicago Dyno Day
I'm in the process of setting up a dynoday with RC Autoworks in Bridgview. Got the ok from Bob the owner, just need to figure out dates(so far we're thinking the 8th of Nov) and cost. Already have about 10 cars for the minimum on facebook. Price will probably be $60-$70 for 3 pulls. Should be a nice day to hangout at the shop and grill some food while showing Honda people our 100hp balls!

It's only 3 hours. I can do a day trip for some fun and such. Car will need to be dyno'd anyways, and won't have time before the challenge i don't think. :)

I'm in. I went to the one last year and am now throwing down double the boost I was then. Curious to see how much that translates to on the dyno.

So far we have 14 people who have said they want to purchase dyno time. I talked with Bob the owner and he wants a prepayed deposit so we know for sure people are coming since he is setting aside a Saturday for us. It will likely be through paypal or by phone/email. I will post more info when I have it. Pricing will be their normal rate if you show up and did not prepay. Only prepaid people will get the group discount. $80 for 3 pulls. (normal rate) $70 for 3 pulls. (Group rate 10 cars prepaid) The price goes down the more cars we get. This pricing is subject to change and is not final but what Bob and I talked about. Pricing will be final once we set up the prepayment method(most likely paypal) |

Hello all, I've set up with Bob Reese, the shop owner over at RC Autoworks in Bridgeview IL, a dyno day on their DynoJet. I have an event page created on Facebook as the main source of information here: https://www.facebook.com/events/845950922106460 You may need to be a member of the midwest miatas facebook group in order to see the event, if that's the case just message me here and I'll get you all set up and added. If you'd rather not deal with facebook, you may message me here or reach my email at philmize89@gmail.com and I will make sure to include you in our discount prepaid list. You may also call the shop and ask Bob for more information. The event is scheduled so far for Nov. 8th at 11am. It is a Saturday and I plan on bringing a small grill so we all can hang out and make some food while people hit the dyno. The date and time are not yet finalized and are subject to change. I've worked with Bob to get discounted pricing, the regular rate is $80 for 3 pulls. 10 or more cars who prepay, will get a discounted rate as we get more people. So if 10 people reserve a spot, it goes down to $70 for 3 pulls and 20 or more it goes down to $60. The goal is to get at least 20 cars on the dyno. That would put it at $60 for 3 pulls. In order to receive the discount, you need to prepay and lock in your spot beforehand. If you show up without prepaying you will be charged the normal rate. All payments taken are non-refundable. If you want to attend but not run, you are welcome. I will keep this post updated as we work out more details and finalize everything. I currently have a running list of about 15 potential cars seeing dyno time. |
What is their rate for an hour of dyno time? I may want to see what they can do tuning wise on my car. I imagine this would take place AFTER everyone has done their pulls?

Ok, for those of you wanting actual dyno time. To be in on the group buy, you need to prepay via paypal. If you do not have a paypal, Robert said you may call the shop and pay over phone, but prefers to work through paypal if possible.
RCAutoworks@gmail.com is their paypal. Please send $70 and in the comment box provide your full name and what make/model/color your car is. Their phone number is: (708) 599-5884 (ALL TRANSACTIONS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE) If we get more than 20 cars pre-payed well refund the $10. Bob also asks to make sure your car is stable to get on the dyno and not leaking any sort of fluids or anything. For the $70 you will get 3 pulls. |

I wish I could go just to see everyone's car's. I work that day,and happen to work in bridgeview. Honestly I'm close enough to it that If anyone's car is loud enough I may hear it. Maybe I would stop by on my lunch to spectate.

I'm out for dyno pulls. Car that i was going to do pulls with suffered a crippling electrical failure on Saturday. I'm reasonably sure it'll run just fine, but it's completely unsafe to drive, so i won't even be able to break in the motor/clutch.
May still come out to watch. With this car being down, i don't have anything on my plate for a couple months other than trying to find a winter beater. |

The problem IS Swank Force One (Pulled out of GRM $2014 on Saturday). I wasn't going to waste my time dyno-ing yet another BP car.

Stock original suspension, so it'll be a game to see how much camber i have from the impacts by the time i get up there. :giggle:

The event went very well. We had 18 cars! Not all miatas, but still very successful. I think I was the second highest at 194hp and 197tq @ 11psi and the dyno reads 10% low. One other guy had a white NA from Gurnee had a FM2 setup pretty much with a MS and made like 230ish hp. We had an ongoing battle between 4-5 miatas for 100ish hp.

I'm upset I didn't get my car on the dyno... I am also upset my car hasn't been on the road in a month or more.
Further, I am upset that I got my emissions testing letter in the mail Saturday with a due date of February when I am sure the car will still be in storage... All that aside, it was great seeing everyone at the dyno day. I wish I could have stayed the full day. I will definately budget for a full day next time. Is this something we plan on doing only yearly or will we do a spring event as well? |

I matched Phil at 194 HP but only had 179 torque. Not bad considering I'm running the factory exhaust!
