Default Chicago MT Meet Feeler Thread

Branching off from the Wanna Go Fast thread, let's post ideas here for Chicago based peoples for a get together. Maybe grill up some good eats and talk turbos and tuning all day.

For starters, let's decide on a location, hopefully somewhat neutral of a drive for everyone, if that's even possible since I know everyone is all spread out. Maybe a forest preserve somewhere? Also, let's figure out a date. I wanna say maybe mid-July? Saturday the 12th, 19th, 26th?

I'd even say if people want they could come to my parents house in South Holland, they have a nice backyard with a firepit and nice big grill. We could park up fast and the furious style in their driveway. Though I dunno if we could fit 15+ miatas but I'd assume this would be pretty small so long as no one invites all the clubroadster and stance/hardparker crowd.

Thoughts/Ideas welcome.

Anytime in July works for me. The wife and kids will be back in Japan and I'll be living the bachelor life for the month.

So the 18th-20th is Import Alliance, WCMC Tire Rack, and WMHM. So is anyone opposed to doing the following weekend of the 25th-26th?

48 posts in 5 years, and that's one of them.

I'm just mad because I was about to post the same thing and you beat me to it.

So you're saying he beat your meat feeler?

---

Bit of a drive for me, but depending on how this all plays out I may make a weekend trip out of it and take the ladyfriend to a show in chicago or something.

Where in Wisconsin are you? I'm damn near the IL/WI border so we could meat up and drive down the rest of the way.

Into the woods.

With a bunch of other Miata owners.

For a meat feeler.

Eau Claire. It's ... a ways. I'm about 4:17 north west of you in Volo. But like I said, it could be a weekend trip maybe.

Yeah, that's quite a haul. But weekend trips are always fun.

I'll bring the crx...

Err actually, I'd bring the Fiat... we need to have a picture of any red miatas and then my Spider snuck into the middle of them... amusing "one of these things is not like the other" situations.

I could probably make it if it's the 12th or 19th. West of the city works best for me. My wife's parents are cattle farmers, so if we plan on barbequing I could probably help with the meat up.

Hopefully I'm free, bought the miata last year and haven't attended any events yet.

Sorry been busy with cleaning all the crap out of my garage.

I was thinking about doing it at Veteran's Memorial Park in South Holland. I can get my grill over there since it's a few blocks from my place. South Holland is kind of easy to get too from up north and Joliet and Indiana so I figure people shouldn't have any problems. I can get a permit easy too. The only catch would be if anyone wants drinks they need to make sure it's in cups, no visible bottles.

I94, I80, I57, I294, and I394 all get off right within 5 minutes drive of South Holland.

If anyone else has better recommendations? Is the location ok? Should we move elsewhere?
