here they are boys. the championship trophy's are being made as we speak. they are pretty nice too. definitely worthy of china cabinet action!
also, check out the new official TxMC section of the miata challenge website. i'll be posting updates in rules (if any) 2011 schedule etc.. as they are available. again thanks t everyone for coming out and being a part of this. i feel like a gained a new (dysfunctional) family! http://www.supermiata.com/forum/showthread.php?t=55 |
I had a blast competing, thanks for running the books and doing all the work to make it happen. I'm going to work on getting more locals to compete next year.
|
Registered on site now. Now just need to find these car setup rules you speak of. ;)
|
/\ Typical - from my understanding of the rules so far in car prep, I would have 8.5 points which is street. But not having carpet automatically puts me in modified. Great - let me pull out my 105 HP knife out now.
|
Wad up the carpet and stuff it in the trunk.
|
I'm not going to buy carpet to wad up in the trunk. No worries... it is what is.
|
You have gutted doors too.

Thanks to Spoolin for setting it up and keeping us running. Thanks Hustler for keeping it close and making me faster by doing so. Thanks to Emillio for letting us in to play. It was a fun season for sure. I'm lots faster than I was at the first event thanks to this. |

Still unclear on HVAC controls and heater core - they have been deleted which would put it in Modified I believe. Attachment 192617 |

Everyone got significantly faster over the course of the season, which is fantastic. Looking forward to some strong competition next year! I'm comin' for ya, Wags! ;)
|
What?! I thought you were selling the super fast white NC.
|
Nope. Chris S was thinking about selling his similar red car.
|
Hmmm I've got between now and next season to decide what class to run...what'll it be?
Is everyone staying in the same classes? |
I'm seriously considering running in Modified next season. I like my air conditioning and power steering and cruise control and power windows, so I probably shouldn't be in Unlimited.
I can maybe drop enough points simply by using 15x8 wheels and 140 treadwear tires. Or maybe I'll stay in Unlimited. I don't like having to worry about points when improving my car, plus Unlimited is where the big boys play. Or maybe I'll take next year off, pay off my enormous debts, then stage a triumphant return in 2012. |

Is everyone staying in the same classes? Is that theory too biased? You can park my car next to Gordons, Savingaids', Matt Andrews' and tell me which one doesn't belong. |
The only thing about that is it brings in subjective qualifications instead of objective.
My N/A car would be considered unlimited at this point, but that's another thing. |

I'm biased, so let me talk about myself for a moment...I don't think my car should be in unlimitted. I should be competing with you, Geezer, Wagz, 0086, and ZXTX in the same class. I believe there is some rumor going around about a rule-shift. I like the way street is set-up as daily drivers, but I don't think a 240whp car with big brakes, full interior, and no aero should be in unlimitted. When I think of unlimitted, I think of a car that shows up on a trailer, has lots of aero, gutted interior, and 300+whp. I drive my car from the track to the god damned bar, you shouldn't be able to do that in an unlimited car. |

I see your point, but at the same time you have to admit that my full-interior, normally aspirated car with coilovers and sticky tires is outgunned. I mean, my mad driving skillz keep me in the hunt, but I'm giving up 100 ponies and 400 lbs to you, dood ;)

This is an interesting discussion. I'm basically going between Mod on 15x8 street tires and unlimited on 15x9 r's.
This season I drove my car to the track, full interior, ~200 rwhp, on street tires, with a bit of aero. I think its classed about right in the upper end of Mod (14.25 pts). For next season I'm considering picking up a trailer, since the aero seems to attract alot of unwanted attention. Maybe a cage since the car will be off the streets. Oh, I hope to get more value for the 5 pts i'm taking for power. I like the essence of mod class where you are limited to what and where you make your improvements and balance power and tire. I really think that the different approaches Geezer and I had would have been interesting if we would have made more events. Maybe I'm just getting too caught up in the competition and i should stop caring and just drive. |

What about a class with a points system where you are required to drive your car to the bar after the event and consume gratuitous amounts of local beer with point multipliers for consumption by the pitcher?
I was considering a trailer and XJ tow vehicle but I was just hit with a 12% pay decrease and furloughs literally minutes ago, so expect zero modification to my car....run run run unlimited guys. |
Regardless of class... I'm in. Outgunned no matter where I go. Ha! Now when we get to the bar; that is whole 'nother ballgame. ;)

Can I enter my S2000 in street?
|
WAH! i drove my car to events, plus i only make 200whp. i should be in modified too! hell, we're dropping unlimited in texas. while we're at it we're dropping street too, everybody's in modified. does that make you guys feel better?
forget about it. hustler, you were the first one to tell jeff that you have f/i miata's on 15x9's and r-comps, we're in unlimited, deal with it. what happened to that? either go n/a or do 15x7's on 140 tread street tires. learn to get the most from what you got, then make a decision. none of us are doing that right now. i know i'm not. |
