Miata Challenge in Norcal: Infineon (3/6/2011) & Laguna Seca (6/25/2011)
For you Norcal guys, we thought we’d give you a heads up about Miata Challenge coming to you for the 2011 season. Speed Ventures is planning for potentially two events for you to come out and have some fun. Laguna Seca is already a confirmed date (Sun, 6/25/2011). The Infineon event (Sun, 3/6/2011) is tentative, but should be confirmed by Jan. 10 on whether or not it is happening. Please check out the Miata Challenge schedule for updates.
In case Infineon becomes part of the Miata Challenge 2011 schedule, here’s a proposal to get some more participation from Norcal residents: a two-event Miata Challenge NorCal Mini-Series. The idea is simple. Residents of Central and Northern CA (no further south than Laguna Seca/Visalia) would be eligible for prizes in two-event mini-series. If there’s enough interest, we'll get a local sponsor or two along with Speed Ventures and 949Racing to create a modest prize pool. Discuss, offer suggestions and whatnot here or SuperMiata/Miata Challenge forums. |
I'll need someone to swing by Sequoia Grove and pick up a couple bottles of 2004 Vintner's Reserve Cab.
Thanks, Hustldonger |

How much per bottle? I like a cab with subdued but complex fruit, mellow tannins, big body. If it's not too far from the track, I might be able to get you some.
Somewhat on topic: I firmly believe that Sequoia Grove is the definitive Cab producer in the fine state of Commiefornia. Sure, there are a dozen great cab wineries in your state, but you can buy a budget $40 bottle, which is more than I like spending on wine, and it will deliver a cab that has a little fruit, you can taste the soil, and it leaves you with that "cigar box" finish (thank you French Oak). That $40 bottle is a 96-point wine; it makes me spend the money. I want the "Rutherford" Reserve 04 actually, but you can order it now. The reason it's $75/bottle is the damn "new" French oak, but you can taste it. When is the Miata wine run? Can Andrew drink yet? If not, he can drive. I tried to force him into drinking a beer at Big Willow a few years ago and he kept crying about how his Mom wouldn't like that. |
Wine run. Good idea. What happens if one of us racers wants cheese and complains about their cars ride quality though? It could rupture the universe.

On my last wine trip we passed around cheese on a butcher's block around the car. No BS, I don't think I shit for a total of 5-days. |
Infinion would be awesome, I would defiantly be down for the nor cal mini series.

NASATX is using the Hallett race to run with NASA Rocky Mountain at the same event. It's going to be huge...you Cali boys should do the same. The AI/CMC field is going to be massive, probably 75+ cars.

Miata Challenge here only runs with Speed Ventures. No other group gives us as much track time or freedom to do our thing. No reason to go elsewhere in Cali.

Once I get the insurance figured out I will be offering track days, may be able to work something out, possible miata challenge only run groups or something.
