Default 11/3 - Dry run for spring tour because its too nice not to.

I posted in my "Feeler" thread about a trip I made a month or so back where I drove from the Elgin IL area to Dubuque and then South to Savanna IL.

It seemed like I had some interest in some members here to do it in the spring, but it is too nice out not to spend some time out on the road so I am planning on doing a dry run this coming weekend that includes a little loop in Iowa that was recommended by Scrambles.

Times are tentative and up for adjustment if it works better with anyone's schedules but here is my plan...

8:45a : Start at Rt. 20 in Marengo - Depart at approximately 9am
Drive Westbound on US 20 through Galena IL to Dubuque IA. (approx 2:15)
11:15a : Arrive Dubuque IA. Meet with MT.net member(s?) and have a late breakfast.
12:00 : Depart Dubuque for "Scrambles" loop. (1:40)
1:40p : Arrive Little Maquoketa State park or abouts. We can either stop here for a water and bathroom break or find a rest stop somewhere nearby.
2:00p : Depart Little Maquoketa for Savanna IL
3:20p : Arrive Savanna
We can either eat again or just stop for a bit before splitting up and heading towards home.
3:50p : Depart Savanna for Marengo via Morrison, Sterling, Dixon, Oregon, Byron and Rockford
6:30p : Arrive Marengo

Obviously if you don't want to take my route back after Savanna you are free not to, but I will be going that way because I know the roads are great and I will be heading that general direction anyhow.

Let me know if you can come.

I'm in for Sunday, planning on meeting the group in Dubuque for brunch. Do we have a spot picked out?

Village Inn Pancake House
1940 John F Kennedy Rd
Dubuque, IA 52002

OR

Timmerman's Supper Club
7777 Timmerman Dr
East Dubuque, IL 61025

Village Inn gets the nod for better food, Timmerman's has a great view and a $10 Sunday Breakfast Buffet.

Which do you prefer?

I am still on board, I think anyone who comes will be pleasantly surprised by the roads.

At village inn now. Place is hopping and it will be a 1/2 hour wait for a table so when we do this for real there is no way we are bringing the whole group here.

Timmermans supper club had much more room and much more parking. Might not be as high quality but it can get us in and out quickly so we can get back on the road. Nice views too.

Great drive until about 20 miles from home when my car decided to become naturally aspirated. I am hoping I just blew a coupler or something. Limped it home and I will look at it tomorrow.

Checked oil and pulled intake off and compressor wheel is spinning so I think I am ok. That and after goosing the throttle the BOV vents cold air (not forced) so that tells me that it's not going through my turbo to get to that point...

Yep, I blew a coupler. I don't want to clutter up this thread with tech support so I will leave the rest in my build thread. I didn't want to leave the thread hanging on my misfortune however. Can't wait till spring tour!
