Anything happening in north Georgia area.? Rarely see any Miata's around here.

 

MX5ATL have been pretty dead too. I think basically all the traffic for Georgia has been pushed onto facebook, But those groups are full of mind-numbing idiots. So if they're doing anything, I don't want to be a part of it.

That being said, there are 9 Miatie signed up for the iTrack Drift Clinic this Sunday at Lanier Speedway if you're into that.

 

Good to know, I'll definitely be there. I raced on Lanier for 18 years, 2 track Nascar Championships and 60 feature wins there. I wish I had known about the MMiata when I was racing there.

 

Well none of this is that serious. Its going to be a bunch of beginners doing donuts, but some of these have a fun grassroots feel to them. Open pits, fun to hang out and chat. I'll be there in a white Miata with big #04's on it.

$15 to get in the door. Bring a helmet incase you can get a ride with one of the better drivers.

 

I'll bring the helmet. Shame the owner ran that track in the ground. I'd still be racing there if it were still an active racetrack.

 

Licensing is so expensive these days, and you have to have a decent pay out for any good drivers to show up. I've seen oval tracks paying as much as $40k to put on a sanctioned event. It not sustainable if you want a name like 'Nascar' attached to it. I miss racing with people that are just there for fun.

 

It was a Nascar sanction the whole time I raced there. Cost me $35 to race and I paid for my whole program through winnings. That's why it's so hard to pay $165 to have some track time that pays nothing.

 

Sanctioning costs probably weren't $15k per race. Or the track lost money on the races and made it up on test days, I havent owned a track for 30 years either. I haven't seen the business change. Everything's more expensive now.

 

Agree there needs to be more North GA events. The Facebook group makes me feel brain dead for reading some of the stuff.

There are a ton of really nice roads around us and I'd love to do backroad runs with some mature miata owners

 

I'm in Loganville and would be up for some cruising, if you don't mind me tooling around in my Fiesta ST until the Miata is done.

 

I checked out of MX5ATL a while ago. I'm in Alpharetta and my new engine could use some miles.

 

I am up towards Dawsonville. I am usually up in the mountains every weekend if the weather is nice. Would be fun to get a group together to go cruise.
