Ohio Roll Call

I'm in Hilliard and if you guys are still planning to meet up in May I'd like to stop by -
I've recently picked up a ms2 for my car and some rx7 injectors - I'd like to look over the parts I've got and have a few questions -
If either of you guys is still thinking about using ips I have to say I'm very much against them - I've head some bad stories from more then a few people about them and applied tuning - ips is actually the mechanical side of things and applied are the guys that do their tuning
I'm used to have a speed 3 before I got a miata and so did a friend of mine - ips/applied had a major part in blowing up his car and really screwing him over in a failed attempt to put it back together -
they claimed to have a lot of knowledge on the platform but in the end wound up cost my friend thousands of dollars
this is the whole story -

I've also had friends who let Cory tune their cars at Slomotion and have heard a lot of positive things about them - I mean messing with cars is always "user assumes risk" but I've just felt like Slomotion simply had better business practices
I was at their last big dyno day back in Sept -

Chris and i share a pretty similar view on ips i guess.
IF you use slomo, deal with Corey and only Corey. Nearly their whole crew has turned over in the last year and a half. Once they moved to sunbury from cassady ave they lost their longest standing fabricator. Then Wyan left, he ran the front side of the business and imo was the only reason the doors stayed open and they lights stayed on.

I haven't heard anything positive about IPS. I have a Speed3 myself and think that platform shouldn't be messed with too much as far as extracting more power. Seems like it's on the edge, and in my opinion has quite enough from the factory. Lots of cats blow those things up, and I think it's just one of those things where you can mod for some reliability and maybe a better flowing intake but that's it. Tighten up the suspension and shifter and be done with it.
Corey sure seems like an OK dude in my communications with him. He was willing to tune my MS when I had it. Said he preferred the AEM but would take his time with MS and would be able to get it. Anyway, I'm funny about letting anybody work on my car at all. I'm just out of my depth on the tuning front, and the AEM software isn't as nice and straightforward as TunerStudio, so I'd like a "pro" with a dyno to do it. I'm still considering SloMo but I'm thinking about talking to Pure Tuning as well.
