Pa Group

Idk how many Pennsylvania people there are here, but there's a group that stays active for all Mazdas. They're only on Facebook, but just about everyone has that. There's a decent amount of Miata guys there.

PaMazdas

gorillazfan1023 06-18-2013 09:25 PM

I will check it out, I'm in the Harrisburg area

RedCarmel 06-18-2013 09:34 PM

There's a surprising amount of people from PA on this site. If you want to post up details about any meets or anything for those of us without FB, that would good.

duffbuster243 06-19-2013 08:38 AM

I'm on that facebook group, but there appears to be an overabundance of Clubroadster type modifications to all types of mazdas on there. One comment I remember best was just the other day a kid decided to lower his speed6 by cutting coils off the springs. He said it rides like stock. lol. Someone should really take that car off him, he definitely does not deserve to have a mazdaspeed6 in my opinion.

drummersrs 06-19-2013 09:19 PM

Im from the allentown area. Does seem like there are a lot of eastern pa people around here.

Onyxyth 06-19-2013 09:25 PM

Yeah that facebook group is pretty much full of riced out mazdaspeed 3's. It's all good though, I'm still part of it.

supercooper 06-20-2013 03:33 PM

i would join... but i absolutely hate facebook and everything it stands for... so, i cant join the cool kids club...

SupaFlyTA 06-20-2013 05:57 PM

Yeah that speed6...I just SMH...

SupaFlyTA 06-20-2013 06:02 PM

I'll keep up on events on here too for everyone. There are a lot of 3's, but a decent amount of Miatas and other cars. There are some very nice 3's there too. A lot of the people you meet at events though are the 'cool kids.' More of the people that have a... different view on what the car is for dont show up, they're just Facebook warriors. Facebook is a nice basis to keep it local, personal and free.

But there's talk of a BBQ again this year and a lot of people get to the local autox's

gorillazfan1023 06-21-2013 07:58 AM

Yeah I looked but did not join. I get enough stupid updates from PA's finest (Which I'm mean even a member of). All it is is sh*t talking, K20 swapped civics wanting to race everything, and saying Mustangs are slow. I can't even understand the lingo anymore...it's like their brains are atrophy-ing from non-use. I digress.

stefanst 06-21-2013 08:48 AM

I'm also not a fan of the facebook thingy. And the language used is not one I fully comprehend. But if somebody could keep us informed about events, in particular events that require helmets, that wold be great!

Thanks,

Stefan from Bucks County

SupaFlyTA 07-03-2013 09:48 PM

Spending $45 for a few runs at an autocross course always seemed expensive to me. I'm used to $15 days. Regardless, have you ever been out to their events? Are the courses tight or more open?

SupaFlyTA 07-03-2013 11:04 PM

This will be my first with this group, I missed them last weekend at Hershey. I must be in the wrong crowd, but a $15 day sounds like a steal.

In my experience, the PCA did tighter courses, and were more fun because there were less people. They're still $40 so I hardly went.

Nope. Just hangin out.

RedCarmel 07-09-2013 12:32 PM

How was the autocross event?

stefanst 07-09-2013 01:01 PM

I'll be going to one Autocross on the 21st. Either in Allentown: Iron Pigs Autocross
or in Warminster: Warminster PA Autocross
Warminster is closer for me, but if somebody else from the forum is going to Allentown, I'd go to Allentown too.

TurboTim 07-09-2013 01:35 PM

I'm just across the Delaware and used to be part of LVMOC, back when gas was cheaper. I'd love to do a run again sometime soon.

stefanst 07-09-2013 02:17 PM

Hi Tim,

So you're in P-Burg?
I guess your car isn't ready just yet?
If memory serves me right, I believe they allow two drivers/car. I'd let you drive....

ST

TurboTim 07-09-2013 02:45 PM

I'm close to Trenton NJ. My car runs but needs an oil cooler. I drive it whenever:
1. I don't have to pick my kid up from daycare
2. There isn't a chance of rain

So...like twice so far this summer.

stefanst 07-09-2013 04:17 PM

I must have missed those two days without rain...

SupaFlyTA 07-09-2013 06:39 PM

The autocross on Sunday was...hot. Course layout was great, people were great, and lots of nice cars. It was just a hot day. Afternoon run was apparently cooler, and then it rained.

On the 21st is the next event at the Giant Center.

Was a lot of fun as usual. Susquehanna puts on pretty good events. The morning was hot as hell so we left after that. I'm planning on being at the next one at Hershey on the 21st. Come out and say hi to the slow msm.

Glad to hear it was a good group. Maybe I'll come out on the 21st. Or just wait until the next time it's at the farm show complex. I'm not going to get out on the track this year so at least one autoX would be good.

Or…the Lancaster County corvette club hosts autoX events for only $15. Never been to these either but I know a couple m.netters go. August 18th.

Interesting, I hadn't seen those before. I'll have to check one out, although I'll be up at the Duryea hill climb all day that day. If anyone is ever interested, there's always a ton of Mazda folk up at turn 7 hanging out.

thirdgen 07-09-2013 09:30 PM

See you at the duryea.

RedCarmel 07-09-2013 09:35 PM

mt.net party at turn 7

darkcambria 07-09-2013 09:48 PM

My buddy John with a mazda3 with ITBs will be running. I plan to enter both pagoda and Duryea next year. More miatas would be welcome though, there's usually only 2-3
