Default Hillclimb at The Dragon in N.C.? Oh, hell yes!

I wish I could go watch but my track day is the same day!

Registration is no open for drivers, we have a few openings for workers left and spectators are admitted free of charge. If you've never been to a hillclimb, it's an "extreme high speed autocross except the pylons are heavy and either stone colored or green with limbs. It's not for everyone and some guys can only race if they can see around the next corner... but for those that enjoy squeezing every ounce out of their car in the fastest line on a wicked 2.4 mile mountain road... you might give it a try. I think... you'll love it and enjoy a chance to compete with many of the best hillclimbers in the south.

http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/...event_id=13198

Drivers will draw for prizes including a HANS, a set of TOYOS, a set of Hoosiers and the fastest man and woman will receive a Dragonslayer sword. The locals are very friendly and kids enjoy getting autographs and ringing the cowbells along the course to get drivers to go faster. We have vintage cars, rally cars, open wheel formula cars, production and modified cars... and a few hillclimb specials. Youngest driver is 16 and a 72 year old says he wants to come run and let this be his last motorsports event. Workers receive free accommodations and food and a dinner/party Saturday with prizes, live music and some "automotive entertainment" (bring your helmet). If you'd like to see what the road looks like, ride along with 2011 King of the Hill Cory Friedman in his 2009 Porsche GT3 Grand Am Cup car...

It's only two weeks away but they'd be glad to help getting you in a competitive class, finding accommodations and registering. Your NASA Road race license or TT license will be accepted. More information and course map at http://www.dragonhillclimb.com

Holy ---- snacks that is awesome. I wish the Colorado Hillclimb Assn would sponsor some 'climbs on blacktop...everything out here is on dirt except for Pikes Peak.

I just found out about this event last week, looks pretty amazing.

From watching the video, the road looks pretty bumpy and beat up in places, but I suppose that is part of the hill climb game.

No chance I can make it to this event this year, but it's definitely something I would like to do in the future. I think there is another running of the same course in September...

Thankfully this is in my neck of the woods :-D It's actually not on the dragon, though.

I won't be working, instead I'll be spectating. I'll grab as many pics as I can.

I tried to find information on what it takes to obtain the novice permit and couldn't....but then I started thinking about all the other stuff I don't have...an up to date helmet, a fire suit, shoes, gloves...

Maybe another time.

I totally understand, gear is stupid expensive.

I'll be there snapping from photos. A friend managed to get us press passes, no idea if they're any different from just walking up as a spectator with a camera, but we'll see lol.

Mike, let me know if you're coming up. It'd be cool if you could stay awhile Saturday night and "play" with some of the locals.

You beat me to it. I heard it was awesome last year.

Hill Climbs are awesome. All you need is a safe car and seat big enough to fit your giant *****

If anyone is interested in doing them in the North East check out pahillclimb.net We do 6 every year.

I'm still highly contemplating getting up early and coming up to spectate...I'm guessing it's a "park at the bottom and walk up" kinda thing to watch?.

I'll leave this one up for now, uploading the rest. I figured this will give everyone a chance to caption the pic,

I was too lazy(and hungover) to go back up today. I'll be uploading them to my photobucket: http://s48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...imb%206-23-12/

Hey, I know that car! Thanks for the video, I'll give props if I can share it.
Nice to talk to Mike on Saturday, sorry if I missed others.

Got to Slay the Dragon with trophy sword awarded for FTD this time!

See you again in September, time to get the gear, logbooks and and the licences in order. There were a Turbo Miata daily driver finishing 8th overall and he had a blast too!

Please tell me you have some in-car video of that car somewhere online, even if it was at another event.
