Miata Challenge round #2-Autoclub Speedway in Fontana!

The first rule of Miata Challenge: It’s not Fight Club.
Who will be Jeff Gordon and who will be Danica Patrick this year?
Will too many pit shenanigans get to Emilio this year (we can hope!)? Will Sonny narrowly miss crashing the razor driftorito into the trash can again this year?


It’s safe! Really.
Everyone is going the same direction, 99% of the time. Or 90%.
It’s cheap!
Have you seen your insurance increase after a ticket or three? Or the cost of tickets now with any supplemental fees!?
It’s fun!
How can it not be? Often we do night before bbq’s where we grill beef and drink good craft beers (there’s rumor to be bourbon at select events!).
Driving the cars at your limit is beyond fun! Bring a spouse, bring a friend, give each other joy rides (in the cars).
Heck, I’ll give you a joy ride but won’t guarantee actually being fast, lol.


Round 2 is Autoclub Speedway in Fontana. You'll be like Danica... Or you’ll be fast here, so fast. And smooth, like buttah.
A lovely track-2.81 miles and 21 turns of NASCAR goodness, mostly.
This is really one of the best facilities you'll find. The interior sections are well suited to Miatas. The 14 degree banked turns and 11 degree banked front straight are great places to catch up on your reading...if the sound of the Corvettes flying by don't distract you. Not to worry though as by turn 3 they'll be pointing you by again, lol.

There are 4 classes:
-Street, aka I’m pretty stock and I think I have a helmet somewhere.
-Modified, aka I think I like this and want more.
-Super-Modified, aka don’t tell my wife what I’ve done to the car!
-Unlimited, aka there’s a Miata under there somewhere.

Is there a miata challenge specific run group?

Cool!

No specific run group. Register like you would for any trackday. In addition during online registration check off that you'll participate in Mosta Challenge and check for timing transponder rental (unless you have your own).
When checking in the morning of event let them know again if they don't already have it listed so you can fill out the points form. Good idea to download the excel file from link in original post so you can bring that.
You will be timed in whatever run group you're in. You're timed all day and your best time (except from first session) counts. There may be other Miata from various classes in your group.

BJ's Pizza in lieu of traditional BBQ. Camping possible if we pay for security as we did last year. Without the BBQ, there isn't much incentive to camp though.
