Made it home. It was great to see all you guys and talk ideas an such. Here is a picture with a few of us or our cars together.

Also saw these things that I want, missed you guys though, you must have been racing every time I showed up. Hope to see you next year.

We even saw Greg spying on our cars and rolling this little gem.

More of our cars in the background.
Had a great time, hope to see some of you guys next year.

I'm hoping to get a chance to hear the magnaflow 12578 muffler that's recommended. Is anyone still around?

Yeah, I made the beer nipple joke and before I finished Aidan's glass needed a refill. Andrew did good that night.

So many full pictures of the blue car on jackstands, but only a couple of half-shot appearances of the blue car that ran all weekend on the first weekend of it being turbo'ed, with only minor teething issues.

Sad!

Good times everyone, looking forward to next year already.

No pictures of any of my cars, alas. I didn't even take any myself!

No pictures of my car but I did retire early and found this under my heat shield. Yup, that's all 4 studs letting go and a full 1/2" separation! Oh, and now it's obviously why my speedo wasn't working on the way home. Melted behind the heater hoses!

We had a great weekend overall. It was great to put some faces with names, and see some of your cars in person after watching the builds progress here on the forums.

I always come home from events wishing I'd taken more pictures, but always end up too busy! Here's the one shot I got of the MT Pits on Saturday:

MTPitSat by Rodan AZ, on Flickr

Our NA ran like a champ, and needed nothing but air pressure adjustments and fuel over the weekend. My wife really enjoyed her first time on MRLS (and first time on a 'real' track, with traffic), and she even got her first ever "point bys" on Sunday. I ended up a little too fast for the street pads (Hawk HPS - the one thing I neglect to change getting ready), and entry to 2 and 11 got pretty interesting when traffic didn't allow the brakes to cool off. And there was a lot of traffic in C... But no problems related to the VVT swap, which makes me happy.

Big thanks to everyone I talked to about lines and strategies around the track. It really helped out, as I picked up a lot of speed from Sat to Sun, and had a fun time dicing with one of the KMiata customer cars.

In the end, though, after seeing this guy on Friday, I can't help but think we're all doing it wrong...

And now we tell the GTA-V subplot story of Stacey. If Stacey were actually a character in GTA-V, I think she'd be one of those people Lester has the option of either a) helping out with whatever their problem is or b) dropping them off to the cult of (suspected) cannibals for cash. In this case, her character would be attempting to get her son a ride in a race car.

Stacey is about 5'10", made up, blonde hair. She was eating with a younger man in the same room at dinner Saturday night that we were eating in. She's a big gal, with big ... lungs. A big gal not in terms of a football player, but you think she probably played volleyball back in the day, if she played a sport. I later learned she's 49. She was wearing a top that, when she leaned over, left you no doubt as to the size of her lungs. Not that any of us wanted any verification as to the size of her lungs. I think, if she were actually trying to fish in our waters, it's much more likely any given one of us would have gone gay for any other given one of us rather than taking a bite of the bait she was fishing with.

Stacey was extremely extroverted, in that artificially super sweet nice way that makes (at least, for me) one's skin crawl. She chatted us up about were we all "race car drivers" and how her son would love to go for a ride and how would she go about doing that if she brought him out to the track. Then the conversation diverted, and I believe I started paying attention to Andrew rather than her. About 5 minutes later I realize she's still at the end of the table, and she has her phone out, and she's showing those poor unfortunates pictures. I can't see them, but apparently they are of her and her sisters ... her in a bikini ... her doing something last night ... You get the picture. Pictures you don't want to see, that are immediately too personal for sharing from someone you met 5 minutes ago.

So at this point the guys at the end of the table are cornered. She's all over James (wrx10limited). He, being Canadian, is super nice, you know? She's taking advantage of that. Miataman is sitting across the table. The look on his face ... the look on his face was like he was 10 years old again. 10 years old, and he's at the YMCA, and by mistake he's wandered into the women's locker room instead of the men's locker room, and all the geriatric ladies from the Aquaroebics class are in there changing out of their bathing suits. That's the look on his face.

Gordon, being unnaturally prescient, has brought Ms. Gordon with him to dinner, and is automatically innoculated and can sit back and watch.

She's asking about a ride for her kid, and what she would have to do on Sunday. We tell her track goes live at 9am and runs to 5pm. When she hears 9am she sort of shudders and says "Oh, that's too early." I, being a dumbass, volunteer to be her contact, because I'm a nice guy and I figure hey, it's for the kid, right? We exchange numbers. Again, 9am is too early, for a parent of a 10 year old.

Only once in the car do I learn that her kid is a 10 year old special needs autistic kid, and she has bite scars from him. Motherfuck.

She rolls in with her kid, a friend, and the friend's kid about 2:30. I walk her over to registration, they take his height and weight and give him an armband. We walk over to the Trackmasters tent to get the kid a helmet. Immediately alarm bells go off for the organizer, saying there's no way a minor can go on track, and goes off to clarify with registration. Edit: at this point my car is already on the trailer. Three sessions was enough on the third straight day. I was packed up in order to get north of the Bay Area before stopping for the night. I figured maybe somebody could give the kid a ride up and down the street if nothing else.

While we wait I attempt to maintain civil conversation despite my continued feeling of the skin crawling. Then, out of the blue, she just up and volunteers how her son isn't vaccinated, never will be, and he hasn't been to a doctor at all in a year and a half, and he's in perfect health. And she was never vaccinated, and she's perfectly healthy as well. Dumbfounded, I asked her why she hadn't vaccinated him, but the conversation quickly died. I wasn't going to get into an argument with her, as that is patently non-starting.

Then she says she's a schoolteacher. Again I am dumbfounded. Edit: all urge to be of any assistance to this person has left my body.

Thankfully at that point the organizer comes back, saying there's no way it can happen. I tell her "Sorry it didn't work out" and just walk away.

Definitely one to drop off with the cultists.

OH and the younger man was some sort of church person, proselytizing to anyone who would listen, apparently. Also a dropoff candidate.

Guess she helped prove you can still get autism without vaccinations

Your telling of the story was at least as enjoyable as watching this all play out in real time.
