I'll be there on Saturday. Driving in with a group in the AM and probably leave around 5 or 6 PM.

Decent sized group meeting at the intersection of 411 and 129 gas station at 8AM if anyone else wants to meet . Not sure the exact number but going that early usually keeps the traffic down.

psyber_0ptix 08-03-2017 11:59 AM

So, for a quick checklist for the latecomer (me) before I depart tomorrow:

Sleeping bag
Clothes
15x9 spare wheel/tire
Spare plug wires
Spare upper ball joint
Spare ignition coil
Oh shit spare of brake pads
Extra coolant
Extra Oil
A misfit of incorrect tools
Ear plugs + Tylenol for the exhaust drone
Trash bag poncho
Lagavulin 16/Glenmorangie Nectar D'Or

Seem about right? Any other ideas?

black bandit 08-03-2017 12:59 PM

Welp, looks like I got the go ahead to head up on Saturday and make a day trip out of it. It'll be a lot of driving, but didn't want to miss out on all of the fun after attending it last year too. See some of you guys this weekend.

Psyber, looks good if you are seriously concerned about having to make roadside repairs on the way down. Other than that, make sure you bring photo/video equip and inverters to charge stuff.

I am terrified of not being able to get my car up and running in the middle of nowhere. I have no backup plan.

black bandit 08-03-2017 03:08 PM

The biggest feat will just be making to Fontana. Once you're there, they'll be more miatas/miata owners than you'll ever want to see. Most of which are willing to help out. Also, I never do a run alone and neither should you, let that be your backup plan.

psyber_0ptix 08-03-2017 03:10 PM

I'm the late runner. I don't now anyone in this area who's going, who isn't there by now. I had to work today :(

Definitely going to caravan back.

shuiend 08-03-2017 03:20 PM

I am out. I got to goto ATL to deliver some turbo parts, along with not actually having my car on the road yet. Stupid ABS and trying to bleed those brakes.

So long as you don't blow your motor I've got all the stuff needed for roadside repairs.

sixshooter 08-03-2017 11:57 PM

Anybody know what room concealer is in? We have arrived and don't know where to go. He isn't responding to texts

Well shit, should I bring out my truck and pick up your miata from Fontana? If you are dead you don't need it.

Good luck finding it in Fontana considering it's in Clearwater with a gas flooded hydrolocked engine.

black bandit 08-04-2017 01:05 PM

Which one of yuns done blowed up a trubo?

Any more info? I know there should be a few people running MKTurbo setups around MaTG.

I don't think it was one of your setups. I was asked if I had an extra SR T25 sitting around to bring up, so I assumed whoever blew their turbo up was on an SR T25.

Well shit, do I need to go find my spare SR20 t25, I don't really want to side track that way this weekend, but if there is cash monies involved I may say fuck it and do it.

black bandit 08-04-2017 02:10 PM

yea, there's a post on Facebook on the Miatas at the Gap page.

shuiend 08-04-2017 02:11 PM

I don't FB. So I probably won't be helping this guy out.

Let me know if I can assist in anyway. I'm heading up there at 6:30 am tomorrow for the day.

Splitime 08-04-2017 02:51 PM

If "My Speed" guy shows up, people should say hi to him (no clue who he is but this crossed my plate today).

Made it! Oil pressure is scary.

Edit: A&W run! Car still fully stocked.

sixshooter 08-04-2017 08:16 PM

Yes Vteckiller2000 splodered his t25 and needs something to bolt on.

Drove mountain passes in the rain and clouds this afternoon with a few guys from the forum. Saw a harley in the morning off the dragon down the hillside with the rider waiting for a tow truck.

miataman04 08-04-2017 10:43 PM

Gha wifi in fontana sucks so bad. They should't even have it. Is there a good place for photos? I've taken a crap ton.

portabull 08-05-2017 12:36 PM

wifi password -> inthewoods, or ask at the store if they've changed it from thursday.

flier129 08-06-2017 08:26 PM

Well that was fun.

Cool you meet some of you guys! :D

90civichhb 08-07-2017 11:29 AM

I didn't stick around too long, did the Saw-zall brake pad mods work out ok?

concealer404 08-07-2017 11:44 AM

Yeah brakes worked fine afterwards, but there's definitely a defective Wilwood brake rotor in there. I'll be tearing the brake setup back down in the next day or two and taking some measurements.

Padlock 08-07-2017 11:46 AM

Nice to meet you all.. even though I was "that guy" with the CTSV at a Miata meet... lol

chiefmg 08-07-2017 04:46 PM

Nice to finally put faces with the names, some of whom I have known for a few years now. Thanks for not throwing this misguided supercharged person off the front porch. I will be back for another event, probably not next year though with how my schedule works.

sixshooter 08-07-2017 04:52 PM

Lurch 08-08-2017 06:08 AM

So who all was in 658 with us? Besides Ben, Cameron, Marcus, and Lucas? Trying to put names to faces. I was the one with the black track-prepped CRX on the fat 13" panasports and r888's. I maintain that driving a Miata to a Miata meet just isn't cool. Drove my crap can Mariner blue 90 on 15x9's that burned tons of oil last year. Good time. Can't wait to see yall gain next year.

We need all the MT.net folks to stay in cabins together so we can pool our tools for breakdowns and I'll stay off the dragon with my new car.

yes, the signal/wifi was so spotty, it was rough that we couldn't all get together at the same time

sixshooter 08-09-2017 07:07 AM

Perhaps having a cabin number where we can all meet known prior to arrival...

We got in later than expected (Wednesday night instead of tuesday), and then spent a lot of time fighting mechanical issues. :(

Yeahhhh.... they actually changed the number vs my reservation, and didn't really have a way to relay that info. Le sigh.

psyber_0ptix 08-09-2017 09:42 AM

It was also just trying to catch people a the right times. Who was going on what runs, and where folks where in general. A centralized meeting point is moot if there's no one to meet there.

Basically you want to do the runs that Marcus is leading/organizing. They leave from the grill. (A&W run, Donut Run in the past, Brewery Run)

There may be a lot more people that come to this event than you'd think.... there flat out isn't space for everyone to meet at the main lower parking lot by the general store. ;)

If only the lobby had WiFi and there was a central discussion about the event or something...........oh well

Fun fact: I haven't been able to post on this site from my phone in over a year. It just flat out doesn't work. Too many obtrusive ads for me to be able to log in, it just locks up and becomes unresponsive. :( IB broke it.

Therefor: I blame IB for the problems.

Your phone haz no interwebz browser?!

As much traffic as US129 gets now on a yearly basis it would be nice if Verizon dropped a tower in somewhere.

psyber_0ptix 08-09-2017 10:06 AM

As an uninitated MATG noob, I didn't know the lay of the land. I was stoked when I saw "most disease" and the turbo kitteh on Steve's car.

shuiend 08-09-2017 10:31 AM

I was about 20min away from Fontana at one of their small cabins earlier in the year and had great 4G cell signal. It is hard to believe that Fontana signal would be far worse.
