3 laps around Infineon raceway (aka sears point) w/ 3 cameras
This is the first time i was able to get back on track since i blew up my trans in April. Everything went well for the firs time. Anyone know what that red thing is? Thanks alot to Tim @ AbsurdFlow, Sav for the radiator & cops, Chris for the brake ducts. All quality products that work well and make my car run for entire sessions without any issues. I had an absolute blast for the first time in a long time in this car. Next time i get on track is for Redline Time Attack at this same track in late October. |
Your videos just keep getting better and better. Favorited.

very nice
|
Great stuff there! Good luck at the time attack.
|
Very nice video. Was that an Ultima GTR at ~4mins?
|
Before I go watch, what brake ducts? Pics?
|
Red thingy is a Racical sports racer...I think it's the SR3 or the PR6
Awesome little f*ckers.... http://bobcory.com/radical/images/final/lg_P1150480.jpg They make a version powered by a turbo'd Hyabusa engine, the SR3 turbo. Oh and you can see by the "tag" on the front, that these are indeed road-legal over in Europe! http://collaverglas.files.wordpress....01_radical.jpg |
hahahahah that's mean as hell!!! Gopro's are awesome. Nick Cahill is awesome. Needs more 7D hanging off the rear wing though. tehehehe.
Who's the passenger? Great vid Nick. I'm glad the hardware is working for ya. |
awesome vid :D
what BOV is that? i like the sound of it :D |
Very cool! That is a fast track!
|
Thanks a million for sharing this sYck video, after the 4 minute mark it was a good fight with the red sports car. Put it this way you were the fastest car on the track that day, showing some respect.
Not to be seen as negative, but would have liked a rear view from when the red car let you pass. I have seen several events and from the accidents that happen, must are on that hill and quick sharp turn. Have seen plenty of cars slam the wall right after the hill. Uff, everytime I would see you approaching it was like wow he made it... And the twisty turns before the straight away are super tricky as the car tends to be everywhere. Very good driving skills! |
Awesome vid, the bumper shot is crazy shit!
|
Impressive that you kicked that radical's ass. Good job, love the camera angles. I agree though, a rear facing shot would be tits.
|
I wish i could get video that good. I love rowing through the field for the first session of the day, then I'm irritated and want space for the rest.
|
So did you have 900 fans waiting to see your results on twitter? :) Flat Out, a very nice vid! :bigtu:

If you don't want that, would you post a drawing of it for all to see? I could whip it up in Catia and we could have an easy to make brake duct for the masses. Edit: PS, I see you're using rubber hose for your oil cooler, I'm about to order my own lines, and could save $17 by going rubber instead of stainless steel. How are they holding up and would you of gone SS if you could have mulligan? |
Don't go rubber on a track car. Just don't. Worst $17 saved.
|
Gotcha.

All that video needs is some remote mics for audio that equals the video quality. In showroom stock we had to run a full exhaust so I ran a remote mic in my engine bay. That was the only way to get any indication of throttle since the camera couldn't pick up any engine noise from the mount point inside.

How are they holding up and would you of gone SS if you could have mulligan? The rubber lines are good for 300psi, they have been working just fine in my car for two years now. For a 17 dollar difference i would have gone with stainless lines though. I may end up changing my oil cooler setup and going with stainless lines. My oil temps were saying 300* but my sender is in the feed line, right under the exhaust manifold. I am kinda thinking the heat from the manifold is heating up the sender. I may just change the location of the sender and see what the temps read. Oil pan is best correct?

How are you picking-up air for the brake ducts? I have mine in the RB vents but only running a 2.5" hose and seeing 370* caliper temp readings on my stylish Alcon temp strips. I bet Chris will build more ducts like that considering the cost of tires on his 993 (virtual) cup car.

Sick vid Nick.
Good stuff |

You're using the brakes too much.

Thanks for the kudos Nick! I really had no idea that they would be that effective, but every little bit helps. I would be glad to make some more for any interested... I will say that John Wags has modified a set I made for him to go on another customer's car; however from what I've seen thus far is that there is some modification (cutting) of the spindles to allow them to work. Mine bolt on with no modification what so ever.
These were the first prototypes ever and some tinkering with angling of the inlet will be in order for better optimizing. I don't believe Nick has any problems with routing or clearance issues, so I haven't bothered with a second edition. Great vid and glad to have real world data - Good job my man! ;) |

Outside (rim side) of the caliper's temp sticker is @ 350* I used 3 inch hose. |
I cant believe you hung with that Radical. Ive never driven one but Ive been out on the track with them, and theyre very quick.

As for the ducts, I didn't exactly make them so ill get in contact with the guy who did and see if he has any interest in making more.
I could also do the R&D myself, but this is MT.net, we're lazy AND cheap. |

Fair enough, do you plan on getting rid of the radio surround? That's why I did mine, so I could just have the dash bar uprights. Not like you're saving much weight, but it frees up some valuable space.
He doesn't necessarily need to make more, just get us a rough sketch of hole location and shape of the plate. I think all of us with an angle grinder could cut them out of a $10 sheet of steel from Home Depot, and I doubt the $5 in pipe would cost more than $20 to be welded. I'm down for $35 brake ducts. I could also do the R&D myself, but this is MT.net, we're lazy AND cheap. |
Epic video. Thanks for making one with so many angles.

Maybe we need to start putting air on Savington's calipers. However, I warped my 2-sets of Carbotech backing plates and I do not warp PFC-97/01 or DTC-60 backing plates.

I have lots of short sections of 3" stainless lying around. And my dad says I can take his plasma cutter, he doesn't use it anymore. I have a goodwin first gen or so BBK, not sure if that caliper location would work with what you all use. :dunno: |
/\ That is correct. OEM dust shield locations...
|
that is just a fistfull of steering at 1:35 and still kept things lined up for the esses. woohoo.
here is a slight variation on the theme. seems to direct the air towards the vents a bit better? http://iscracing.net/images/0miatabrakeducts.jpg EDIT: if you buy new spindles don't do what i did. i got a new one (right) with some damn clitoris thing right where the duct goes. any help with part # appreciated for next time. (original on left). http://i892.photobucket.com/albums/a...newspindle.jpg |
I think those are the same ones Hustler is using.
Edit *** Ducts that is. |
sick

what lap times around Infineon, what about T-Hill? I hate the blue Cobra looking thing in the first minute or so in the video, I think it was from turn 4 to turn 7. That thing goes like hell down the straights but is the biggest ball of shit cornering wise. I dont know how many times I have passed that thing on the outside of whatever turn you can imagine.
