I should do that with the little 10" sub i have in a bandpass box sitting in my living room.
But again, way too lazy with not enough buddies around to drink and construct things with.

I think that'll be my project this weekend. I'm doing a search on subs right now. I'm good friends with a lot of people who work for JL Audio so it would be tough for me to not use their products since every car I've owned since 1989 has had some sort of JL sub in it. but looking at the specs on their 10" subs, they don't have subs that fit into y8s' specs. I think the closest was the 10w1.

what type of box is that? a sealed box? i been doing boxes for miata for 2 years and still cant get clean good bass from the trunk, unless i have the top up or a hard top. yea my GFs are small so i dont care about there small foot space. if we go for a long drive we take her car. i make the box about .5 cubic feet and use a small 8 or 10 inch sub the sound is great and clean. but i am glad that you got some good sound from your trunk.

sealed. I measured about .8 cu. ft. or so. Sub was free, otherwise I would have went with a 10". Think "home plate" 7.5" tall, I have the exact measurements at home.

I don't use it to pump out tons of bass, but the depth of the sound is much more complete, and with the top down in still pleased with it, but I agree, even with the soft top up and windows down it sounds much better.

I've been interested in porting through the firewall. Maybe a port between the seats from a box in the back. I got the idea, back when I was looking at MR2's. Decided I wanted to port a box into the footwell of the car with a sub in the front, seeing as the MR2's have a front trunk.

the ported sub will work against you in a miata trunk. you want a roughly 55Hz cutoff with a .7 Q.

Oh, see. I haven't looked at the numbers. All I know is some guys had pulled it off in the smaller area that the MR2 Frunk gives you. Since I don't have the Miata yet, I haven't looked at dimensions. I'm sure I could find something to pull off.

For the record. I did not mean porting the box and leaving it at that. I want to port the box through the firewall into the cabin so to speak. Thus having a hole between the seats (Or wherever is convenient) that allows for more air movement in the seating area. As far as how that will work with the amount of air the sub will move in the trunk as a result of porting the box (even though the port won't exit inside the trunk), I don't know. I wouldn't be going with a wlidly powerful subwoofer either. I've had my share of big bass before.

Yeah, I wasn't sure why the trunk would limit the effectiveness of such a setup. I think it was a misunderstanding.

Actually it's closer to 58Hz/.67 Q but your specs should work.

I have a JL 8" Microsub in my subaru that sounds pretty good. I wish I knew more about this kind of stuff.
