This is my exhaust my buddy hand build for me last week. It sounds amazing, not too loud suprisingly, looks good and performs awesome. I didnt want a muffler for the record. Sorry pics are so crappy ill have better ones this weekend with it off the car. Enjoy!

Nice...I just did mine 2 weeks ago but I think yours is a bit nicer. Now that I passed emissions I got to put some more straight pipe back in mine!

NoMiEzMX-5 04-14-2009 11:02 PM

very nice!! Think he can make one for me?? I would like to have a resonator somewhere in the middle of mine...

Braineack 04-15-2009 09:51 AM

two 6" mufflers? cant really tell.

paul 04-15-2009 09:53 AM

Very nice. Very similiar to AbsurdFlow setup

hustler 04-15-2009 11:41 AM

your wheels are ugly, like your girlfriend.

samnavy 04-15-2009 11:51 AM

The first picture is the only one that's worth anything. Delete the other 2 and get some better lighting... and need a pic of the forward part that mates to the cat... and need more rust. Otherwise looks like a decent product.

HOW MUCH DID IT COST YOU?

Good thing there not on your car, then you'd have to look at them everyday!

Turbo_4 04-15-2009 04:10 PM

sound clip?

Braineack 04-15-2009 04:19 PM

answer to questions?

FastColt 04-15-2009 06:12 PM

Sorry, Parts were around 300 from summit, mine only has 1 flex section, the rest with straight pipe. Ill get a sound click asap. He will make exhaust for pretty much anything, only thing is....the car must be on site. He doesnt plan on mass producing these, each is custom.

samnavy 04-15-2009 06:52 PM

This stuff doesn't look all that complicated, but I have a question? Assuming you're in good with a muffler shop, and they have access to 3" SS tubing and whatever else you want in the form of flex-sections, resonators, and mufflers, what sort of setup works best, assuming you're mildly concerned about being a good citizen and not getting arrested for noise?

Most of the BEGi downpipes have a flex-section in them already. Do you need one on the exhaust as well?

Assuming I'll have no cat, I've always thought that the "common" street setup was to have a small resonator (for noise suppression and scavenging) in the long straight section behind the transmission, and a small bullet-muffler (for noise only) just behind the pumpkin. It's gonna be a little louder than a traditional muffler, but you'll essentially be talking about just 2x45* bends in the whole system.

How the hell do the usual suspects sell $1000 catbacks when it appears you can get an awesome one made for you for 1/2 of that?

No idea. Even a 3" stainless Enthuza and custom test pipe was under $700, and I consider that kinda high-end.

FastColt 04-16-2009 06:29 AM

First off, My begi dp does not have a flex, so we put one on the exhaust. Second, this is a 700 dollar job, 300 in parts, 10 hours of maticulous fabrication. Third, im not sure why this exhaust is not raging loud, You know its got an exhaust on it, but doesnt give you a buzzing headache on the highway. Ive had cops next to me, behind me, every which way and had no problems.

Fags like you that make message boards such negative places.

cardriverx 04-16-2009 05:03 PM

Did you just use 2 90 degree bends, a 45, and straight pipe? I wanna make sure I get the right stuff when I buy my bends.

FastColt 04-16-2009 05:55 PM

We used 2-180 bends, and one straight piece. There are also some misc. parts as well. 2.5 inch flex, and a 2.5 to 3 inch piece.

samnavy 04-16-2009 06:04 PM

What's the price difference between aluminized and stainless? I have no winter-driving issues, and I don't care what it looks like.

It just boggles my mind that this shit costs so fucking much. I'm half tempted to get a stock 3" exhaust out of an old diesel truck in a junkyard, hack it up, and JBWeld the fucker together.

Got mine from Miami muffler, paid $320 for it. Wouldn't pay more because I just don't think it's worth it.

This one is bolted directly to a Begi SGDP. If you want the same one I'm sure they would sell you one for the same price + shipping. Me, TValenziano and Naarleven are all using it with no problems so far. I think Tyson also just bought one.

actually, I'm right considering everyone on here has 3" and paid less than your bullshit price. Fags like you ruin this message board because you're so fucking uptight from never touching a girl in your life, so you show up here and tell people "how much they don't know" so please stfu and kill yourself because no one here likes you and no girl ever will. I make this place great because I BUILD CROWDS, GUARANTEED!

What do you do "GUARANTEED?"

Machismo 04-17-2009 09:50 AM

My shizzzz was custom built from existing pieces and added an 18" resonator to the midpipe. Transversed the existing Borla for a center dump to compliment the cut rear bumper.
1 hour of my time....not 10.
Price for work and use of lift - two tacos and a soda!
Sounds great through all rpm ranges and still have money left over to POZ with Hustler!
It's all been done before....it's just a matter of how fresh it is.

Thankfully you picked up one for me too at the time. No problems at all. $700 :bowrofl:

:jerkit:

As Phil said there's at least 4 of us running these.

It took them less than 10hrs to make all 4, and WE paid $300 and change for the whole exhaust, not just parts. And ours include a magnaflow.

I'll give you that CT > FL in terms of cost, but I wouldn't pay more than $500 for that from a stranger, let alone if a friend built it for me.

Lol, with friends like that.....

FastColt 04-18-2009 06:25 PM

You guys can all say what you want, my bad on how much the stuff cost, i believe it was 200 for everything. Plus the welding rod, plus half a bottle of argon for back purging all the welds. This is a full 409 stainless exhaust. 400 bucks is not expensive when you look at the welds and quality of it (in my eyes). Im not sure why i said 700 dollars, i didnt mean to type that. If i lived in FL i would probably opt for the cheaper metal with lesser quality but the fact is, CT roads are garbage and have salt on them until flippin july, which is when dot usually decides to do some sweeping. Say what you will, i like it and thats pretty much all that matters.

Opinions are like assholes, everyones got one and they usually stink! As long as your happy, fuck'm

slutz4 04-18-2009 07:02 PM

or better yet, buy some tubing and decent welder for less than the cost of a custom fab one.

samnavy 04-18-2009 09:04 PM

You said materials alone were $300 w/10hrs of labor??? Now you're saying materials were $200 and you paid a total of $400... minus a few things... so you pay your guy about $15hr for "meticulous welding"... don't pro fabricators make a shit-ton more? I'm not trying to be picky, just looking to educate myself on how this stuff workd... I honestly don't know.

I like the idea of $320 like the easy-peesy Magnaflow posted earlier, it looks just about as simple and light as you can make it. I'm trying for the life of me to see how people pay $700-$1000 for (at face value) what appears to be the exact same thing. Seriously, it's just one pipe, a few bends, 3pipe welds, and 4 hangars?

When I do my homework eventually in the SanDiego area, and get quotes from speed-shops, regular muffler shops, Jose-muffler-depot, to see how much variation there is in the market.

I wasn't kidding earlier when I talked about getting an old stock diesel exhaust from a full-size truck, cutting it up, and seeing what happens... I'd buy a decent muffler of course, but it's just fucking metal pipe in the end.

WonTon 04-19-2009 12:02 AM

if you really think about it no matter how much money you spend on an exhaust setup, in a couple years time it will look like shit, unless you dont drive your car at all! if there is a cheaper and better way of getting a job done then that is the route that should be taken. shit if i had a grand i wouldn't drop it all on an exhaust, id get a cheap ass setup that will work and spend the rest of the money on something else that i have planned for my car!

240_to_miata 04-19-2009 05:42 PM

I got to hear this car in person today at the Uconn Car show while i was running traffic. It sounded great. It wasnt TOO loud and it looked great.

Nice car man. I'm sure ill see you around again

$400 is a big way from $700, but whatever

@ $400 I'd say well done

@ $700 I'd say

Either way be happy and enjoy

evank 04-21-2009 03:15 AM

If anyone is close enough to CT to consider getting an exhaust made there, then drive to nearby NJ instead, and directly to Shore Motorsports. Superior workmanship, superior service, and Tim needs money to buy a lift for his garage. :)

Then you can say, "My downpipe is as awesome as EvanK's."

I'm almost positive thats the POS cat back I have!

I have charged people more than $700 installed. Oops.

Oh wait, those included metal core cats and mufflers.

EDIT: I don't see anything wrong with the fabricator/welder charging you $40/hr.
