Thought I'd share in case anyone wants to see it. I'm most proud of the beginning and end credits, the middle part with my dumbass voice on it, not so much. Sorry in advance, since I doubt anyone will understand the narration.

I watched it... most of it. I'm just impressed you can speak the language. To me it sounds fluent- like you're thinking it. How long did it take to learn?

I'm not sure about the Arabic course, but in Farsi we were at a High School level when we graduated.

Top gear new season.

I have a good friend that lives in saudi ... he said the car culture is crazy over there. His dad owns the Volvo monopoly (companies can own monopolies over there ). He has always had modded volvos and other exotic cars. They just got rid of their brand new Bentley cause **** kept breaking.

I would love to go visit him one summer, but we are both graduating next year and who knows where we will end up.

Honestly, if I had to come up with all of that on the spot, it would be a lot slower and with more stumbles and corrections. I had to write it all down before recording. If you didn't make it to the end credits, they're kinda cool too. I found the p e r f e c t version of "Rock the Casbah" for it.

Yup, pretty much. We're almost there in speaking, already there in listening, probably a bit beyond in reading. I dunno about Farsi, but Arabic has a kick-*** root verb system that has really been the key for me, it's reliable enough that I can see a lot of words (especially passive participles and verbal nouns) and know what they mean without having seen them before. Cool stuff.

Like 240 said, Top Gear, but I moved things around to give the impression that there was a progression of time, or at least of a move from rural to city life. All of the lyric-video syncing was an accident for the record, I'd like to be able to say it was on purpose though. In case you don't know what I'm talking about:

- the cars pull up to the light, lyrics: "the chance won't come again"
- the cars depart with wheelspin, lyrics: "the wheel's still in spin"
- the SLR 722 crosses the line, lyrics: "there's no tellin' who that it's namin'"
- the cars brake after the Lambo loses, lyrics: "the loser now will be later to win"

That would be pretty cool to go as a tourist. Saudi can be a pretty spooky place if you're a vanilla face like me, if you're the same keep your wits about you.

Koto -

Great job merging your career training with your off-duty obsession.

How much longer until you graduate from DLI ?

Supposed to be December, but it wouldn't be the end of the world if I was recycled and graduated later, I'd be a better linguist because of it.

There wasn't a day at DLI where I didn't wish I could get recycled.
