Cool tilt-shift effect vid
At times, I'd swear it was a miniature set.
Kinda funny with things that should be huge like monster trucks too. |
Saw this last week, great effect the new tilt shift lenses bring to time lapse photography!
|
That is bad ass, more information?

I demand Redline Time Attack in the rain tilt-shifted!! Haha.
However, I did upload my on track footage! |
Ive alwasy thought of it as kinda gimmick. As much as I like experimental photography, I always stayed a purist at heart.
I think it would be more viable to me if it wasnt so over-done, especially recently. I do like playing with my lens baby, but not in this way. I use it much more subtly. |

The lenses aren't cheap, and I have been spending my money on the car lately so my camera gear has been put on hold for a while.

they can be used for practical purposes too, for framing and image distortion correction.

Reminds me of Robot Chicken

Kinda neat to see video of tilt-shift. It doesn't bother me when it's done good/right. Those lenses are EXPENSIVE...which is why not many people have the real thing. It also takes a good understanding of DOF to do it well in post processing...but I digress.
The monster truck stop-motion one is awesome. Yeah, it's only the exaggerated tilt-shift that gives the 'model effect'. A better use of a good tilt-shift is getting a awesome shot from a wide angle (like a 10-22mm) but without the distortion (using a tilf-shift wide angle lens). http://blog.chriscrumley.com/090904-...mb-400x313.jpg |

I played around in PS a while back making a similar effect. I was actually thinking more along the lines of simulating the effect you get with a long focal length and a large aperture across a big area, in that the depth of field isnt really very small, but the background is far away enough that its still blown out.
Attachment 193229 I basically just did a gradient of increasing levels of a gaussian blur overlapping each other. I didnt even bother masking off anything which is why there is the halo around the car, andI didnt really do it as cleanly as I could, but w/e, its a car in a publix parking lot, certainly not art, haha. |
Tilt-shift is cute.

Been doing something like this for years in my Autocross event photography, here are a few:

I was playing with DOF on one picture early this year and came up with this...

Damn... I need a tilt... for the record I think lens babies are over priced and a waste of time... thankfully canon just dropped in price with the ts-e 24mm and 45. I really like your guys photos of the cars using the tilt shift =)

I want a tilt-shift camera for in-car footage.
