Coolest high-speed video in the world

Detailed, high-resolution video of bullets striking various objects at 1,000,000 frames per second.

The close ups of the hollow-points hitting the gelatin at about 6:08-6:20 make me really want to not ever be shot.

I saw this on reddit yesterday. Its pretty freakin impressive how they bullets liquify when they strike that steel plate. Oh, and +1 on the gelatin.

Ever seen what Glaser bullets or other fragmentory handgun rounds do to gelatin? Scary as hell.

Full_Tilt_Boogie 10-10-2009 01:38 PM

its amazing how the bullets go completely liquid on impact, but that liquid is still carrying so much energy its just shredding that material theyre shooting at

Sweet junks, I just put this on my FB.

Edit - You caught me Joe.

That is fantastic footage. Wow... The contrast and detail at that frame rate are just amazing. +1 on all the above comments.

The shotgun ammo (presumably) at the end is also really interesting. It reminds me of a cluster bomb explosion.

TurboTim 10-10-2009 04:09 PM

The buck shot (?) at the end was pretty cool too.

NA6C-Guy 10-10-2009 04:45 PM

If I had that kind of setup no one would ever see me again. I would be busy shooting at shit and recording it. Too cool.

I was intrigued by the shots where they have a single rifle (or handgun) bullet traveling across the screen, and then what looks like a single shotgun pellet comes into frame from an angle and strikes it.

Forget about getting it on film, I can't imagine what it took just to set up the timing to get one projectile to strike another.

They need to give one of those cameras to the mythbusters in exchange for promotional consideration. Just super a little "KurzzeitCam" bug onto every shot they do with it or something.

I found that awesome as well. I want to see how they got that set up to do that. Hitting a bullet with a bullet fired 90 degrees to each other.

Hustler can make that shot at 800 yards.

While pleasuring three woman (and one Filipino boy) at the same time, no doubt.
