After a ****-ton of problems, my car is now course-ready as a not fully-prepped (yet) CSP car.

I'm running a stock '92 1.6 with i/h/e, MS1 with afm delete, cops. For suspension, full FCM kit with 550/350 springs, RB 1.125" hollow fsb, no rear bar. The car is a '90 base model, de-optioned fully.

For this run I was on 225/45-15 NT-01s, which are almost a year old. I'll be on new 255/40-13 Hoosier A6s for next event.

From here I'll be adjusting on the setup to get it handling really well, going to keep the powerplant that's in it for a while.

I'll update this thread with setup changes, weights, and lots of vids of runs. For reference, with the 1.9, Begi S4/2560R, Begi fmic (big/heavy), coolant reroute, etc, it was 2150 with half tank. Anyone want to bet on the new weight, no turbo parts, kirkey oval tracker in place of the stock driver's seat, less gas?

Oh, dood! I do need said swap. Maybe delete out that part of your post so the vultures don't grab it before me? I know nothing about the swap, I have to start studying. I also don't want to get crazy with power before I have a nice setup under the car. PM being sent.

My built block had it's thrust bearing wiped out, and the crank contacted the block. Not really sure why it happened. It had nothing to do whatsoever with boost or power levels, nor oil supply, etc.

I had a realization that for any normal expenditure level, CSP is better than SSM, especially if you want to be competitive, which I do, I do.

I think this is the same run, one from onboard, one from the outside.

CSP car, my co-driver was 2nd in PAX, just like a tenth and a half off of top PAX, and he was 3rd in raw time. I was 4th PAX/4th raw time. All out of ~45 competitors, we have a few guys locally who are pretty good. GRIP GOOD.

Ugh, I do now. Strange, I think...

It's obvious from looking at my co-driver's videos that I have a few strange habits, like this, that I need to get rid of. He just got on with driving, and was ~.25 quicker in ~35. He shuffles a bit, I shuffle & cross arms, apparently depending on what direction I'm headed.

The car is very fun the way it sits, and I'm looking forward to continuing development on it. The result this weekend was better than could have been expected, especially given the limited development/seat time I've had with it.

From this weekend's event, a special on a local paved oval. It was a higher than normal speed autocross event, so I kept the hardtop on for more aero. I was on my co-driver's 225-14 V710s. We were quick, but not quick enough.

+1, more than I thought. I am on 550/350 springs, no rear bar, 1.125 rb front. I was bottoming the FCM rear hats, so I just installed the ISC 1.25" rear hats. I can travel until the a-arm bottoms on the chassis now.

We found yesterday that the inside of that right rear tire shown was hitting against the sort of "cup" up where the rear hat bolts to. When you are loading these cars as much as we are, all sorts of strange things like this arise.

The other sort of funny thing about that cornering pic is that on this lap-we did two laps total per run-I am actually turning around inside the lay-down pointer cone that you can see there. The front wheel looks like it's going to point the car right at that cone, but I am actually a bit sideways and going around the banked turn.

I think I need more spring rate. The car is also too slow to take a set in really fast transitions. It has more grip available, the body just isn't ready to make the transition.

It's been a busy year with lots of autocrossing and some success. This is a vid of my Sunday run at the NEDiv SCCA Championships this past weekend, I sort of lucked into first place to take the CSP NEDiv Championship because the faster guy coned every run on Saturday. I was pretty dog slow on Saturday but this run on Sunday was reasonably quick.

The car is handling pretty well, I'd be inclined to make some changes but I don't think I will before the National Championships at the end of August. It is a little loose early in the corners and that takes some of your confidence away on turn-in. If you can get on it early enough the rear will plant and it has great drive off the corners.

I am going to Nationals, 56/156 CSP.

Car is now on a fresh 99 motor, all delrin and poly stuff, big camber. I got a set of Koni Yellows that were valved for big springs, I'm on 750/450. The car is handling pretty well, just a smidgen loose early but comes out of corners well. We don't expect to be in Nationals trophy contention, just as long as we are with the boys we are normally with and having fun, it'll be a success.

I am just now reading your CSP build. I wish I read it before nationals so you could of explained how you made your megasquirt work. I am still trying to learn and build for my daily driver, 91 with 01 swap.

ok, gotta get some sleep, hopefully next year you will be out to nationals again,
