Are you really that ignorant man? Seriously?

"They're bith steel bars bolted in" and somehow that makes them the same?

Tell ya what: mount your engine to your strut tower bar instead of the motor mounts and see how that works out for you.

The difference is: one is designed to support the weight and the other isn't.

I know you're not trying to convert us all to drifting so the islamist in a catholic church analogy isn't really accurate, and you take the ball busting fairly well. But this harness bar/style bar is seriously idiotic.

Edit: should have hit refresh before posting! You guys mostly covered the style bar idiocy

See, that's what I'm saying... the past 5-6 replies have been "LOL UR R RETARD U THINK STYLE BAR AND ROLL BAR R TEH SAME?!?!?!"

No... I don't. Style bars only put you in MORE danger rather than add any safety, that's why I bought a double-diag rollbar from harddog (would have built a cage if I had the money to do it at the time). But as far as a place to mount your seat harness, yes, they are equally viable things to mount to, and will both work just as well (as a place to mount the harness, not as a safety feature to protect you in the event of you rolling your car).

Not at all. My car has knock-off wheels, sub par suspension, a cobbled together turbo/engine setup, and "diahreehal" paint.

Also, show us a video of a properly setup turbo miata at a drift event, and see how much actual "hate" you get. I for one love sliding my turbo miata around on occasion. I'm not sure that I'd go through the car abuse and $$ for a drift event, but it's pretty damn fun and I admit that. I do plan on making a few track days at that very track this year

Because when you roll it (very possible even at slower speeds) and the bar bends backwards/breaks off (if you are lucky enough to not get "mousetrapped") your belt attachments wont go with it.

I'd confidently say that just a harness bar would be safer (and less lame) than the style bar there.

If I had enough of a death wish to install a style bar the last thing I'd want is a harness holding me in close, ensuring I remain immobile as jaws of death come down over my perfectly positioned head. Stock belts would at least give you a chance for your upper body to escape I would think.

If you're worried about being planted in the seat just use one of those lap belt locks until you get equipment that will keep you safe doing whatever you love to do.

Relevant: I love the QC Bot

Edit: Fireindc beat me to it

I really don't understand how you could be so dense as to read the 5-6 replies you reference and still post what you just posted.

The only way I can see someone achieving that is if you roll it, and obviously you're running into a different problem at that point... as far as harness mounting, there's not really any difference.

Idk man ... I'm just glad you got a real roll bar. My car came with a style bar when I bought it, that thing was awfully fragile. I would not trust that holding my body safely in case of a collision. I sorta like myself... in one piece.

I can't seem to load the videos you posted, can you link them please. I wanna see why everyone is laughing

How am I being dense? Everyone keeps replying to my post talking about rolling the car and stuff... that's not what I was talking about at all (even said that I KNOW the style bar does nothing in the event of a rollover AND presents a saftey hazard if you were to crash... in the post that you just quoted). I was talking about the viability of where the seat harness is attached to, and that's all... I really don't know how to make that any clearer.

Not to mention that throughout this whole thread everyone seems to assume that because I posted these videos I condone the way this guys car is set up... this is not my car, I said that in the first post. I posted these because I went to a drift event, had my GoPro with me, and a buddy showed up in a Miata, so I took some videos of it. If you all want to hate on HIS car and HIS technique, go right ahead... my problem is that this somehow instantly got flipped onto me, and my thoughts.

Not all things are created equal... his bar is very sturdy, and wasn't bought off of eBay (just to clarify, since everyone likes twisting words around, this does NOT mean that I condone putting a style bar on there). I'd trust it to at least least hold him in place in the event of a collision.

Here's a link to my YouTube chanel, vids are on there: Link

There were like 5 or 6 of them, but I think this one sums it up nicely. Especially right around 3:00

Because you're STILL saying that putting your harness on a STYLE bar is the same thing as putting it on a HARNESS bar. And you're saying it's the same thing because they're both made out of steel.

That's how you're being dense.

Jesus. What the actual ****.

It's not OP, it's his friend which may be indicative of something in itself.

But it's cool, the style bar replaces the seatbelts. And you don't need a seatbelt when you have SWAG. Because drift, man.

I guess I'll post again saying that it's not me in the videos, and my safety standards have nothing to do with anything shown in the videos.

One of these days you guys'll catch on to this...

Then stop sackriding your dumbfuck friend and telling us that a style bar is a viable thing to use as a harness bar.
